Aside from emotional value, monetary value has always been: if someone wants something. Also, any market can crash, all it takes it sharp decrease in demand. You just described any item with value.Basically NFT's are Beanie Babies. They only have value if someone wants them. Once the market is saturated and no one cares, they will be worthless. Just like Beanie Babies.
Worse than Beanie Babies even. After the Beanie Babies market crash, at least you could still hold/touch/look at the physical item.
A fool and his money...

I'll be back in 5-10 years when 95% of people that invested money into NFTS get SCREWED ... the thing is if your smart enough you can scam anyone and convince them anything has value.
Buying Items on Mogstation that sit on SE servers - all good
Buy items on Mogstation that sit on blockchain - in 5-10 years 95% of people will be screwed!
Makes no sense really. Anybody can get screwed on any item that has value. This will always be the case if demand crashes.

Nah buying stuff on mogstation is a waste of money but I can at least understand it. The thing with NFT's that is so dangerous is people getting fooled into the fantasy that they are going to make tons of money and this pointless NFT is going to be worth more in the future. Also majority of the big companies getting into the NFT space are actually selling you nothing ( you won't own the rights )Buying Items on Mogstation that sit on SE servers - all good

The only thing dangerous about NFT's is the fact that people really have no understanding of them. You don't need to own the right to something to sell it and make a profit and if you think that you are somehow going to be rich using them then that is on you. NFT's are just digital containers. If you made all outfits in the mogstation an NFT nothing would change in the game.Nah buying stuff on mogstation is a waste of money but I can at least understand it. If nothing changes, its completely pointless. The only thing dangerous about NFT's is the fact that people really have no understanding of them. But its not true though, you want NFT's attached to them, because there will then be a limit to how many of them are available. Thus allowing you to resell them and make money.
Its clear that's what you want to have happen. Thus, yes attaching an NFT to an item would indeed change the game. Rendering your previous assertion false.
Additionally, if they don't set a maximum number available and assign an NFT for every purchase. Whats the point? Because nobody would buy your NFT item when the store will have a set price to begin with. Again rendering the point of wasting space and resources on making it an NFT in the first place.
The only benefit having it as an NFT at that point. Would be to sell the item at a loss because you no longer want it. That's it

The thing I hate the most about NFTs is that they're pretty much making something that's easily made infinitely available into a limited supply product that a lot of people want just to increase the price forcing people to spend more money to get it.
It's completely unnecessary, add no value to the game and they make people have to spend more money for things they want.
The problem is that there are way less people who'd spend on NFTs but those less people are going to spend a LOT more to the point where companies are going to earn a lot more as well.
Now if companies would make NFT cashcows just to fund themselves making actual good games then i'd have no problem with it. Just keep them out of the games themselves.
I'm fine with NFTs existing. I just don't want to see them in games.

Because they would be on the blockchain, and non-fungible!!!
Oh, so you think your tokens are non-fungible, do you? Let me tell you a little story about elementary school picture day and an "unbreakable" comb...
The moment you have more ways to monetize in games that means gameplay systems have to be created around it. Remember when lootboxes and other microtransactions just made their way into games. And people were like: This will just be on the side. If you don't like it you don't have to engage with it.The only thing dangerous about NFT's is the fact that people really have no understanding of them. Yup that didn't turn sour quick.
The moment there is more money to be made with a scheme the integrity of game design flies out the window in order to make players interact more with the new "feature". This deducts valuable resources and time the developer would usually have for the other aspects of game creation.
