Keep NFT out of FF14

Just going to add my voice to the chorus here, ive literally just made a forum account for this.

If NFTs get added to FF14, im cancelling my sub and never coming back. This virtual cancer needs to be stopped before it starts.

I've already abandoned the idea of playing Forwsorn thanks to this. Im sad about that, coz it looks fun as hell, but if this is the companies course then so be it. So congratulations Matsuda-san, your annoucement has already lost you at least one formerly guaranteed customer.

This is also going to make me more sceptical of FF16 too. While yoshida is still at the helm of it, i don't trust the company not to try and force this into there now too, and if they do, i'm out of Square games forever.

The value would depend on the market. There are always people that want to collect items. Look at people that collect figurines for shows that are over and done with. Also, if there are integrations with other games or developers then use of the items still persists.

Like ... do you think the data of all the items on the mogstation is not already out there, and can be readily duplicate? The only different between those and the one from SE is the latter is authenticated by their server, without that server the data worth less then the picture of the item.

NFTs are trash, but it would at least be slightly amusing if they had a line of NFTs that were all different colors of Alphinaud.

I play quite a few Square Games, and I wouldn't want NFTs in any of them. The existence of them as a major part of any game would be a big turn off to me.

Square management should keep in mind how attempting to emulate the Live Services model went. Don't go ruining your relationship with consumers over the potential for money just because elsewhere a scam of a system has worked. Its already doing poorly for Ubisoft.

What? that makes no sense. I am comparing goods to goods. Physical or digital it doesn't matter. It there is use to it either emotionally or functionally then value can exist. Also, items on the SE server go down when the server goes down. Blockchain is not owned by SE and items on there persists after. You could take a picture of an mogstation items and make them an NFT but who cares. The example is NFT's made by SE that are authenticated on the blockchain by them. People prioritize real things over copies generally.

I'll be back in 5-10 years when 95% of people that invested money into NFTS get SCREWED ... the thing is if your smart enough you can scam anyone and convince them anything has value.

i've spent tons of time and money over the past few years on this game, but if they try to implement nfts into ff14 in any way i'm gone. I unsubbed from discord nitro the second they hinted at that nonsense and I'll do it with this game too. I cannot wait until this money laundering fad nonsense stops.
