For context, only 5.5 million live in Finland. Population is similar to say Sydney, Australia.

It's not going away ever, many livelihoods even in Africa live on the currency because of it's low fees and fast turnaround compared to currency exchange costs. People can make up their own minds but the facts are facts. The number needs to be way higher than 39% running on renewable energy, it's just not sustainable at this rate long-term.

I will immediately cancel my FFXIV sub if I catch even a whiff of NFTs near it, and I won't be coming back ever again, even if they completely reverse the policy. I may not even buy another SE product ever again. This phenomenon is the most profound form of disrespect of gamers, and a level of vulture-like behavior that makes even microtransactions seem benevolent. If it becomes part of every video game one day, I will stop playing video games, full stop.

I've no interest in spending more money in this digital pyramid scheme so SE can benefit on a steady source of income for years to come for little effort/cost on the backs of customers. Please keep NFT's out of FFXIV. I feel it's nothing but corporate greed and introducing what many consumers are saying it is NOT beneficial nor exciting. Seriously, that CEO letter was for shareholders it seems (Certainly not worded for customers or potential customers of games).

Reading comprehension 101: nowhere in the CEO's letter is there mention of NFTs in any of their MMO properties.

Considering that the so-called "mobile" game sector of the company accounts for over 48% of revenues from the Digital Entertainment group, with regular video games accounting for another 30%, and MMO games accounting for about 22% of revenues as of 2022/Q3 [https://www.hd.square-enix.com/eng/i...2q2slides.pdf], I highly suspect that anything dealing with "Tokens" of any kind will be part of the mobile game sector.

The shareholder letter is old news, by the way. And their stated philosophy was more like: "In addition to the sort of content creation we have traditionally engaged in, we will focus on blockchain games premised on token economies as a form of decentralized content" (slide 25 of the quoted source).

Nobody failed to interpret anything, they're just able to see more than 6 inches in front of their own faces, and are concerned what the implications might be for future titles.

Also, I suspect that, like myself, they don't want to see them take root even outside of MMOs.

When things like this start the fast get to all games.look at EA or Ubisoft. We need to say from the get go how much we don't want this in hopes it help. If not really stop sub for this game. Don't support scams such as this.

LOL it will go out the moment eu and USA say they no longer exept it. And the fact that lots of no buddy bloggers and YouTubers doing their own cripto this going to blow up soon.
