I don't really see what they could do to add in NFTs or Cryptocurrency into FFXIV...

The closest they currently have is Crysta, are they gonna let people earn it in-game and trade it between people? Because that would nuke the economy and with it some of the game's popularity.

They won't because Yoshi P works with passion and love. Bring financials into the equasion and everything ends up being about monetary gain. Creative people and businessman are not the same, the latter likes to leech off the former.

If he were the CEO, he couldn't run and maintain XIV, infact it would be out of his control at that point, two different brances of the company

For me the most depressing part of the original statement is the artificial distinction between those who "play to have fun" and those who "play to contribute". Anyone who plays the game and engages with the content or the community IS contributing. Whether it's helping someone in a FATE, grouping with someone to gather crystals for Anima weapons (remember that grind?), anything on Duty Finder, or even just chilling in Limsa aetheryte plaza, it's all contributing. And that is without going into all those players who craft and sell on the market boards. This is all just corporate buzzword bingo trying to justify increased monetization.

I posted this in the other thread on this topic. But I'll just repost it here too

"The route I see them going is starting an addon store for the game. Where people/other companies can make glam items or emotes and sell them as NFT's to other players. So lets say the creator makes 1000 of a really cool glam set. The item sell's out, and now other people are willing to spend a fortune to buy the glam set off other players. Meanwhile Square will sit back and charge lets say a 5% fee on each transaction of said outfit.

This creation process would also allow them to approve or disapprove of what would be allowed. As I know they wouldn't let it turn into a free for all.

But that will be the beginning of the end for the game. And most people I honestly believe would be ok with it to start with. The argument would be that you are supporting creators/modders by allowing them to sell their work in a legit manner.

People just dont understand the madhouse it will devolve into. You already have plenty of people upset with just the mogstation. Wait till they see $1000+ NFT outfits or emotes lmao"
