But here's the thing, right.... FFXIV is good now because the company changed. And this guy, this guy that wrote this letter, was a part of that change. He was the CFO at the time and he supported Yoshida. So there's hope.THis reminds me of one thing SE has said before. Everyone Kindlyforgot about it to.
*We won't remake FF7 until all of our Other FF games has sold as much as FF7*
They also canned a few of their mobile titles that had active communities so they could herd all of their fans into their new Gacha and battle Royale games. They have actively treated their devs like crap for years until VERY recently. Did we also forget this is the same company that Almost went BANK RUPT from being to prideful and thinking no one could top them. You all are literally playing the game that one man saved because of SE being the japanese version of EA. In the No Clip Documentary, Yoshi P himself said it was Hubris that almost ruined Square.
Idk how much more Evidence that SE has always been a really shiesty company a lot of people need, but if NFT is what woke you up. Please Remember Yoshi P and his Team are A singular group within the giant that is Square Enix. And Square Enix has always been about making as much money as possible.
The way I understand it but I am still unsure on this NFT thing is they want the money up front BEFORE making any more content and NFT is a way to facilitate this. I could be wrong though.
They want to make games that requires a down payment, pay to play. People who pay in can then lease what they paid for to people who cant pay, and make money off of them.
Essentially, it's a very large pyramid sceme.
What you're not seeing is that XIV won;t be touched, at least not in the way people are thinking, so if thats all you care about then you don't have to worry. As for him being the CFO at the time he did what he needed to do to keep his job. The best thing to do is not look at this with rose tinted glasses, Yoshi P is a good person who cares, the now CEO has to make a bottom line.
NFT and Crypto will only be in one off games that can milk whales with money they already throw away, the issue of SE baacking NFT and how this does involve XIV, just not in the way everyone is thinking, NFT is affecting the current semi-conductor shortage. XIV is suffering from it, you see how it's a bit of a smack to the face of XIV players. It's Hypocritical and Disrespectful to the dev team who are about to release new content, and the players who will have to suffer the log in queues.
In closing, a Billion Dollar company, doesn;t care about you, or how much you love the game. Yoshi P is not the company, just a worker within, same goes for the dev team. But SE the company housing them is, well they're kinda scummy as far as JP companies go.
I'm more concern about the lack of touch with the consumer than about NFTs, metaverse and the like. Those things are just consequences. What you're not seeing is that XIV won;t be touched, at least not in the way people are thinking, so if thats all you care about then you don't have to worry. But I guess you're right. I mean, even at Blizzard that sort of arrangement worked (Jeff Kaplan was shielding his team from the shitstorm coming from the rest of the company).
