I follow a very simple rule.
Is it a multiplayer game? If yes, no mods of any kind. Play as the devs intend or don't play at all.
Is it a single player game? If yes, mods are acceptable so long as there isn't any kind of leader board and you have already finished the game by playing it without then.
This game, FF14, is a multiplayer game by definition. Therefore, no altering of the game should take place in any way shape or form unless it's already a dev added feature.
There is a difference between studying and training beforehand for exam and getting answers for it during exam using some tool. Whats hard to understand? What of simulators that are completely independent and allow you to practice mechanics without actually having to get to them in-game? Reducing the intended difficulty. And what about xivalexander is a balance harming (at least in it's default setting, I know it can be abused)? What's the actual advantage you get from it compared to other players that live, say in California? If anything, it restores balance.
To use your own phrasing: It's still surprising how people continue to classify game mods and addons in such black and white categories.
Everyone has their own sauce of what a "cheat" is. I find it outrageous that people can go to gamerescape and see where NPCs, gathering nodes, and drops are/comefrom without having to manually search in-game. That's totally using reverse-engineered data to gain an unfair advantage in-game and should be a bannable offense.
In fact, if you've melded crit>det on your character you should also get banned because there's no way you would know that's optimal without using software that interacts with the game to reverse-engineering the data. Totally against the ToS and clearly cheating.
And don't get me started with discord overlay. Getting to see who's talking when you aren't familiar with the people in chat is such a big advantage that I miss out on by being a ps4 player. In fact, I'm going to standup for players who might not have smartphones (or have old ones that have shit batteries). They shouldn't have to change their setup togain access to this balance-breaking tool where people can do callouts for you. That should also be a bannable offense.
Or reshade that can be used "client side" but may allow you to make telegraphs easier to see. That's not fair.
Anyone who doesn't play the game vanilla and without external resources is a cheater who simply speaking just shouldn't be allowed to play the game. It ruins my fun just knowing that they're out there.
I shall now drink this poison of resentment and expect someone else to die.
Am I being baited? One-liner on one item of an entire list.... (I'm assuming this is about the training tools)
And to answer your one-liner:
There's a difference between studying for an exam beforehand and getting the questions to the exam beforehand. What's hard to understand?

To let characters do something that the game would normally not allow, however innocent, is not a window that should be left open. Visual mods, which do not actually affect the game (only what the player sees on their own system) are harmless and I could care less if people use them, but once you start letting characters break out of bounds (ie, sitting where you could normally not sit) just makes other less scrupulous players start pushing the envelope. It makes things start getting sloppy, visual or otherwise and making a grey area for others to exploit.
Visual mods are fine, but manipulating boundaries with scrips is a line that shouldn't be crossed and should in fact, be policed and treated as a violation. Otherwise it will escalate. I've seen it happen in other games. Yes, I will report it IF I SEE IT. If I don't, its obviously a harmless visual mod and I could care less.
But while we're on the subject, console macros for bard actions when, SE?

Do you report all the bards playing songs way faster than they should be able to?Visual mods are fine, but manipulating boundaries with scrips is a line that shouldn't be crossed and should in fact, be policed and treated as a violation. Glad SE has gained a free employee. I prefer to get paid for working though.Visual mods are fine, but manipulating boundaries with scrips is a line that shouldn't be crossed and should in fact, be policed and treated as a violation. A silly example of how people are pushing the limits of what is/isn't okay is that there are mods that allow for the looping of macros...which can effectively be little different from just using a bot, yet it's somehow acceptable in the eyes of some people who are against straight-up botting.
