    Constant frame rate drops on PS5 version

    In nearly every zone in the game when running the PS5 version, panning the camera or moving your character causes the frame rate to go from a steady 60 or so down into the 20’s. This doesn’t seem to be influenced by the number of PC’s or NPC’s on screen. Nor does it seem to be based on how far away you can see, whether you’re running the game at 4K, 1440, or 1080p, any other graphics settings or anything that would normally make the frame rate in a game drop so much. The other interesting thing is that when you run the PS4 client on a PlayStation 5, this doesn’t occur at all. Even with “high draw quality” enabled. The best example of this happening is go to the entrance to the crystal tower in Mor Dhona and just pan the camera. The frame rate will stutter so much you can nearly pick out each individual frame. This happens in almost every zone in the game. Even in dungeons and raids. This issue has been present since the beta earlier this year too. This is horribly distracting and I’d love to know if the devs are aware of this and/or have any plans to fix it.

    A lot of people are having this problem and the only thing that helped me was playing the PS4 application on the PS5 )-: hopefully this can be addressed eventually.

    Im actually having the same issue as well. So i have to download the PS4 version of XIV instead of PS5 u mean?

    Yes go ahead and download the PS4 version on the ps5 it runs smooth like butter. Yes PS5 version looks a lot cleaner but the performance I feel you can’t beat with the PS4 version of the game. After that go into system configuration settings, go to display settings and select PS4 PRO WQHD =4K Upscaling (-: for me this looks the nicest and smoothest. I have had no issues at all with this so far. I’m hoping the more people come out and notice this eventually square will acknowledge it. I know their priority right now is getting the new severs up so people can buy the game again and play which I totally get and support! I just hope they at least see what’s going on.

    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

    If you experiencing issues with the Playstation 5 version of Final Fantasy XIV, please try the following:

    ■ Perform a system update on your PlayStation®5/PlayStation®4
    Perform the most recent system update and then try a version update for FINAL FANTASY XIV Online.

    PlayStation®5: The update can be performed from the home menu by selecting
    [Settings] → [System] → [System Software] → [System Software Update]

    ■ Remove peripheral devices to create a simpler environment for the program to run
    Remove any peripheral USB devices (gamepads, cameras, microphones, headsets, etc.) to create a more stable, simple environment for your console to run the game. Also consider inserting the devices to different USB ports or removing and reinserting them.

    ■ Re-install FINAL FANTASY XIV Online
    If the installed data has been corrupted, the issue may be resolved by re-installing the game.

    If all else fails, try doing a system restore/factory reset on the system as a last resort as follows:

    1. Navigate to the Settings menu (cog icon)
    2. Select System software
    3. Select Reset options
    4. Select Reset your console
    5. Select Reset

    Oh my gosh that did it. I unplugged my keyboard’s usb connector from the front and moved it to the back and reinstalled. Frame drops are almost completely gone. Thank you so much!

    Never mind. It isn’t totally fixed but it is better than it was. Garlemald may as well be a slideshow still but most zones are better.
