I'm just some guy...
Which is ironic, because pre-EW SMN was the worst version of SMN in Final Fantasy history. lol

You mean that YOU think it was the worst version. Personally I think that couldn't be further than the truth. They took summoner, and completely dumbed it down. Personally I wish game developers would just ignore people who complain that a class is too difficult heh. What do you get? Summoner 6.0
Anecdotally, I see SMNs in groups much more often than I've ever seen them before. That may not last, of course, but a class being appealing to more people without being overpowered is generally a good thing in an MMO class ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What 6.0 SMN is not is an elite, hard-to-play class that only the most elite players can play let alone master, and 6.0 SMN will certainly not satisfy players looking for that experience.
Every class won't be for everything, though I certainly understand players that got into SMN for more of the latter and now find it more of the former and not to their liking.

The changes Summoner needs to make it interesting are not something they would be able to do in balance patches. Best case scenario is it gets some extra mechanics in the next expansion that makes it actually interesting. I wouldn't bet money on this happening, though.

Not gonna lie, I went over the ability list like 5 times furiously trying to find what was missing from my hotbars.

If most of the abilities weren't a minute long CD, maybe it would feel better, but at the current moment, the job doesn't feel rewarding and devoid of dopamine hits. Maybe if you started with egis then work to bahamut, would feel good
Started off with bahamut pretty much instantly and then having your dps really tank, feels awful

That's.... every job in the game? Every job has an opener that bursts hard and then evens out..?If most of the abilities weren't a minute long CD, maybe it would feel better, but at the current moment, the job doesn't feel rewarding and devoid of dopamine hits. I mean, it technically was a several minutes long rotation, and did involve double weaving. It's just that 'rotation' in this sense is used rather loosely since you'd never get your original cooldowns back until then, and thus each phase was a little different.
Yeah, exactly. I'm still looking at the hotbars that are half the size they used to and just-... Baffled as to how this felt finished to anyone in QA.
...there is QA, right? This is my first time I've been in x.0 of an expansion, and with the industry standard of Early Access, I wouldn't be surprised to hear if we're the testbed for this. (That said, wish they'd give us a survey or something to weigh in on.)
