    I just did this to get a bit more info,

    Level 85 to 86 is 8,287,000, so to go from 0 exp at 84 to 86 is 16,235,000

    First time bonus for the synth is 175,221

    Each synth is 252,214 at 100% quality (350% bonus) or 1,261,070 for 5 items.

    In total then, with 5 turn ins, 5 synths and the first time bonus you get 18,897,791 plus about 50k gil which pays for 90% of the mats.

    2 full levels plus 2.5 million exp extra, in what, 10 minutes?

    Well they are leveling tools they should help to get to level cap, the question is how much is too much.



    Without a doubt the gear made it easier but it used to take far more leves to level up. I didn't use food or upgrade my gear once and on the 80 durability stuff I ended with plenty of wiggle room in the form of durability and CP.


    I agree, with simple scrip gear it would still be really easy.


    For Land I agree. I haven't done any gathering leves yet but the exp while out in the field seems ok.

    It's not that bad to be fair, you can quick synth to the mid 20's and then firmament all the way to 80. Gil can be an issue but in terms of time it's maybe 10-12 hours per crafter. Much faster than a combat job or gatherer. You will get bogged down on job quests if anything as manipulation is too good to pass up on.


    Good exp for sure, I just think they have over done it this time.
    This isn't one of those grindy MMOs that require life investments just the cap. We do not need anything coming like the crafting torment that is New World. Ff14 is fine in not requiring massive crafting grinds. Especially since we can max all Crafting jobs on one character.

    There is a somewhat huge range between a tedius grind and handing out sweeties though. It's not one or the other.

    I mean, this I can concede.

    But if one isn't 90 in all Crafting then I cannot see why they would want the grind to be much more intense. FF14 does encourage doing everything one can, after all.

    They definitely do feel a little overtuned, especially given there are some leves that don't even require a full crafted item. You shouldn't be able to turn in 3 Manganese Ingots and get basically the same reward as a full Manganese body armour piece. There also should be a greater disparity between the normal and HQ reward. It's really not hard to HQ something so you should be "punished" harder for not doing it.

    I don't really find the act of leveling crafters/gatherers particularly exciting, so I didn't really mind I could spend my leve allowances and get a few pretty easily to 90. Though, I did collectibles more since the cost of time to gather was about the same and buying the leve items outright was a cost I didn't feel like dealing with + I wanted scrips.

    Granted, I did a pretty healthy mix and mostly just wanted the ability to meld/repair and make raid pots/food and possibly armor/accs. I don't really know what a harsher leveling curve would really accomplish, though; most people don't tend to particularly enjoy the process of leveling due to its tedium and crafted items are still valuable and selling - particularly consumable items.

    Except it was the same last expansion. It would take me 5-6 HQ turn-ins to gain 2 levels between 70-80. I leveled DOH on 5 characters primarily through leves so I know it was just as bad then as it is now.

    This expansion is no worse. People ignored it last expansion because Firmament hype had most players leveling there instead of through other methods.

    A better discussion is what the leveling process should accomplish, and how speed impacts that. If the point is for players to learn how to use the actions in their toolkit, continuing to increase the time needed to level becomes unnecessarily punitive instead of beneficial once they've got sufficient experience in using their actions.

    Its already horribad getting crafters from 1 to 90, why should lvling them be even harder?
    If you feel like u lvl too fast, just do 1 leve turn in per day, and let us do it our way xD

    five per level tier is what i meant to say since leves work in tiers of two, but in any case, i'm not sure what your point is. in any case, there's 0 content between 81 and 89 aside from studium quests, all the new content will pretty much be locked behind 90 or otherwise assist even more in leveling. leves are pretty much there for people who want to level immediately, otherwise they can sit aside with their crafters and wait for island sanctuary.
