Did you know that in the past, bosses had enrage timers and there were actually no parsing programs because they simply didnt exist, and yet plenty of people still cleared them anyway? A lot of you don't understand that what you're crying about needing is still relatively new. Yes, YOU need a program to spoon feed you what you're doing wrong. But not everyone does. Especially those who experienced gaming before any of this came to be. Again. Just a few years ago, parsing programs werent even a thing in a lot of games. Raiding in quite a few games you did completely blind just judging based on how combos worked against attack dummies or from you and your team just trying the fights constantly until you got it down.

People didnt just give up. They didnt just "UOOOHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I CANT SEE WHAT IM DOOOOOOOOING NUMBERSWISE??? HOW DO WE BEAT THIIIIIIIIIS" They didnt hunch at their pcs totaling up the damage of every teammate they had. They just made a group and hoped for the best. and yet here we are today...pretty much the embodiment of that tough dog vs the crying dog meme...people acting like they can't even go west of la noscea to gather a pear without knowing what their axe parse will be...it's just pathetic. I'll be honest with you, it's pathetic. It's whiny, it's toddler inspired, it's as little as a little brain can be to insinuate that without parsing people can't even beat bosses. I truly can't believe we're even here in gaming. Lmao. What happened. What happened???? How did this happen

Been playing this game since 2.0. There were parsers back then. There were several in fact. And yes people did get kicked for doing bad damage.

Right there, a person who, because parsers, that are against the ToS, are becoming too common, is being bounced out of statics.

That's a loss, due to parsers being used, and is sort of the entire point of the topic you decided to post in. So... you stepped in it mate.

I mean, where's the line, if it's okay for a static to demand you use things that are against the TOS, what's to keep them from demanding other things that break the law? (reminder, the Terms of service are a contract, and violations of them violations of contract law).

There are statics that recruit that don’t require logs. If (general) you don’t have logs/have no interest in gaining logs, then you need to go for those groups. Not higher midcore, semi-hardcore, or hardcore groups. Those groups care more than just clearing weekly and having fun and getting gear. They want to optimize. They may even want to speedkill. This isn’t the fault of the statics the OP cannot get into—it’s purely on the OP for not adjusting their own standards. If the OP doesn’t want to get logs, then they don’t need to be applying for groups that require them—and there are plenty out there that don’t. I spent two raid tiers in statics that didn’t care about parses or logs in SB, and my Eden’s Verse group was extremely casual when it came to logs and optimization. Versus Gate and Verse where I was actively in Week 1/2 clear groups that cared about logs and optimization.

To the thread creator: if you want to join mc/hig-end raiding static is quite natural they will want logs. And not only for damage numbers but also, mitigation usage, cd usage if you are healer/tank etc. Thats how it works nowadays, you actually have to proof your worth if you want to join high-end static. And there is no toxicity in it, its just natural recruitment process. And from my experience, I used to play on playstation and always had plenty of parses to look at so I can only guess you came into game quite late last tier, hence dont have any logs. Best bet would be just to try to explain to the recruiter your situation and still ask for the trial. My personal opinion about parsers, its amazing addition to the game, infact, I would probably wouldnt ejoy ffxiv that much if it wouldnt be for parsers. And to confirm, have never harrased anyone due to parsing numbers nor recieved a harrasment myself. Actually, managed to meet amazing people in my ffxiv journey only, because of the parsing ability. So yeah, if parser being used to harrass other people I agree, its horrible and it shouldnt be used that way but anyone who has been part of raiding community wouldnt do that anyway.

Man, did you hurt yourself with all that overreaching?

TOS is contract law, absolutely. So... how does SE actually prove the breach of contract that one is using the Parser?

They can't see what you're running, mate. They'd need DRM to do so, and that'll never happen. In other words, the breach of contract for the ban would be for the harassment, not for the parser. Because there's no way 100% they can prove you have one. The only time a ban specifically for a parser will occur is when it's said inside in-game chat in such a blatant way that there's no getting out of it. Nearly everyone who parses talks about it outside of the game, in discord/etc.

There's a difference between being a horrible person and harassing someone for their parse numbers, and not accepting someone into a static because they don't meet the particular group's parse demands.

But, let's play your game. Let's say Parsers didn't exist. So the OP goes for a trial run with them. Since their play needs improvement, it'd stick out like a sore thumb. People don't need parsers to visually eyeball something is wrong. So what does it get them in the end? Wasted time for everyone, because they wouldn't pass the initial test for this group anyway.

Same end result. You going to say that group doesn't have the right to deny that person, in that circumstance? It's literally the same thing. The core of it is the group has a set standard. Bare in mind, the OP did not state that anyone from these groups harassed them, just that they require logs for entry.

So I say again, what did the big bad parser do? It does nothing that people wouldn't do without it anyway. There will always be groups that have requirements to get into.

The amount of vitriol over a calculator astounds me.

I have logs hidden because Radio.IO melted my brain. Some privacy in my online game world is appreciated.

I value parse data and will pour over every log given to me, however I know there's a huge lack of parse literacy in the community. I'd much rather do trial runs with prospects before taking their handful of good logs (over a mountain of middle-ground ones). I want to know how they play, how they adapt, and can they even adjust?

A parse is an easy entry-foot'n'door thing to ask for so people usually want to see what you're at least capable of. It isn't the full story, and any static leader worth their salt understands this. Not having logs to show isn't a big deal. PS4 and non-parse PC users are the majority, but people who outright refuse to log for their trial is a big red flag to me. How will you react to criticism? How does this translate to advice or strat adjustments? How will you take it when logs are discussed for the group?

There is no end to people who will log for you, and more often than not the process of joining a static will involve doing trial runs with them. People aren't robots. We're flexible, and just discussing your needs/concerns with the recruiter can be the first steps to seeing if you're all a good fit.

Not to mention, streamers openly use a parser, and nothing happens.
