Parsing unfair but okay?

Half a brain is not a requirement to install either FFXIV or a parser, alas. I saw someone come -to this very forum- to shit-talk another user, to their face, using their parse data, about a week ago.

but you don't even need to have act installed to see another person logs, i can go to fflogs and check your name and actually see that you have logs from the last exp, where you running a parser? should i report you?
should i start spamming on your server that you run parsers just because you have a couple of logs on fflogs?

I have no problem with people working to improve their personal performance to beat an enrage in top-tier content. But I do see a problem when someone calls out someone else out for poor damage when we're in a dungeon daily that took 25 minutes to clear instead of 20. I have zero clue as to what's going on with each player in real life on the other side of the screen. Maybe they're mostly watching Netflix and actually wasting our time.. or maybe they have a legitimate disability and are trying their best to make it work. But the person in the group beating them over the head with the parse doesn't know (or apparently care about) the difference. And the more we normalize parse usage the more that seems to happen.

If people just used parses to improve their personal performance everything would be fine. But let's be honest.. the chances of no one using a parse as a weapon to attack someone else is pretty much zero.

This is the issue though. I think a vast majority of people who use parses would agree that berating someone else is wrong. Having said that, it also wouldn't be fair for someone who is not as good to think they should be able to join a group of high performing players, and be upset when they are declined.

That doesn't surprise me. It's a fun fight that rewards a multi-seat mount. If anything I'm surprised it's not a higher percentage.

To be fair, the hardcore raiding playerbase is the minority of FFXIV and really shouldn't be catered to. Ultimately, FFXIV is a single-player FF experience in an MMO wrapping. Hardscore raiders really shouldn't expect to have the game revolve around them with systems in place that very few players will use or want to use. I am in NO WAY slamming hardcore raiders, I say go for it. But it truly isn't how this game was designed and Savage isn't really content a majority of the playerbase dives into.

SO Yoshi P, a Hardcore Raider himself, shouldn;t make content he likes in his own game?

Also we'ren't you the same person who literally looked up peoples on the forum logs to shame them and then got mad when people looked up your logs?

it's also a pretty old fight at this point, if you have a good buddy or two that **** at the game but you want them to have a 4 seat mount you just drag them through the fight, hardly high end as it stands, even if it still isn't free.

I like the system we currently have. Improve with yourself and friends, never mention them to randos, and show your card if you want to join a static— if that static wants to see them.

It’s all completely reasonable and only becomes an issue if you feel you’re owed a spot in a static or would be unbearable for others in more “casual” content, even if that “casual” content were lower floors of savage.

Right there, a person who, because parsers, that are against the ToS, are becoming too common, is being bounced out of statics.

That's a loss, due to parsers being used, and is sort of the entire point of the topic you decided to post in. So... you stepped in it mate.

I mean, where's the line, if it's okay for a static to demand you use things that are against the TOS, what's to keep them from demanding other things that break the law? (reminder, the Terms of service are a contract, and violations of them violations of contract law).
