Because fear mongering and stereotyping an entire community as elitists because they ran into a few jerkwads is easier than expecting even basic competency from other people in a team based game. And yet if you point out the bad apples on their side of the fence, they'll be just as quick to cry "Oh they're not actually part of OUR community" while simultaneously painting the other side as big bad bullies without even realizing just how hypocritical that is.
