Unfortunately, my government (and I believe many other government) don’t care about competent, they are more about connection and many companies don’t care as long as the person doing the bare minimum.

It does have meaning depending on when you want to clear the tier. People who are aiming to clear within the first few weeks need high dps to make that work because there is less gear available to help you do damage. That's why those groups seek out people with high blue parses and above. In addition, since the fights aren't out yet, statics can only recruit from logs of previous content and make a determination based on that.
