Parsing unfair but okay?

My only complaint is you can’t do this on PS4. It’s a great tool for self improvement and if you can get analytics for moves and such missed or miss used with advice then all the better.

Other then that I think I’m just echoing what some say. Numbers to self improve or aid others who have asked for such help? Cool.
Using it in a way to harass or otherwise be a gif? Not cool.

Then why should I care? If it matters it should be in the game. If it genuinely does matter, than it's bad design to not have it ingame. Yet nowhere does the game include parsing tools. Nowhere does the game suggest I need them to understand how to play, and it does have multiple tutorials and a ingame guides. Yet nowhere does parsing exist officially. In fact, they ban you for having the tools to see them. I'll care about parsing the second it's an official ingame tool, otherwise, it's irrelevant. And if someone ingame tells me to show them my parses, then they can enjoy their ban.

If I wanted to play a game where I must rely on third party tools to actually play the game than I'd be playing World of Warcatft (Property of Microsoft).

People can tell without parsers if you aren't doing your job properly.

They can switch on animations and listen for sound effects, they can look at the debuffs and your buffs, they can tell as they usually have played the job themselves if you're using the Kenki Gauge properly, they know the rotation off by heart so they will 100% know if you're doing it wrong.

When I see a Bard for instance opening with Mage Ballad and not applying DoTs for an entire 30 seconds, I know they're not just playing the job wrong ...

I know they don't read tool tips, look at resources available to help them or anything.

They should not be in Savage until they actually learn the job to at least a level of basic competency.

You refusing to play SAM properly and getting mad that people are pointing out you're not playing SAM properly is nothing to do with the Parsing tool....

You're failing to use resources that are available to everyone and not playing the job at a basic competency level expected of Savage content.

You agreed to play your job to a higher standard when you clicked agree when signing up for Savage.

Don't report people for deciding they don't want to group with you after a couple pulls

Go learn your job rotation properly and stop having a stick up your backside about it

I dont even have animations on and yet i see what people are doing wrong on classes I know. Since they still do animations, just without all the flashy.

I SEE this sam using their gap GAINER on cooldown without using gap closer after, always running in. And... not using their dot and all that. I have EYES.
I SEE this BLM using their Aoe combo on single target.
I SEE healers being not even there in spirit.
I SEE Drgs not Aoeing because their aoe has a very distinct animation.
I SEE many brds using Paean in their rotation but not when somebody(or them) have esunable debuffs, where it would actually be useful

You do not need effects to tell animations apart, especially as healer/Tank, they have a lot of time to look at people and wonder "What".

No need for parsers to be able to tell whats clearly wrong, especially if pulls take extremely long, too. Just because people know what to look for and see you not doing it, doesnt mean they are using parsers.

Not too sure on this one. I also think some people are just going after people for no reason as well. Like a couple of days ago I had someone whisper me and say why was I modding. and when I asked them what are they talking about. They responded it is the way you are standing it looks like you are modding. I have never ever modded on my account and don't intend to. I am wayyyy toooo scared for trying any of that. Some people are just literally walking around picking on people to start stuff. I find it insane honestly. I think some people in this game log on just to make life harder for others.

Thats completely different and is usually from people that have no idea. And people that want to be annoying, if they know what they‘re talking about… if they know that is.

Mods are clientside, right? Only you are able to see them, nobody else. Thats how i think it works.
Only thing i saw is people sitting/lying where its usually impossible. Nothing that bothers me, wish it was naturally possible.

But it IS usually people that have no idea how it works that are the most vocal on it like the thing you described.

It IS obvious, you hear effects without having them on on top of everything. Skills do have distinct noises.

I hear the paean from that one bard in narnia…
And parsing isnt some great evil in itself.
I‘d like to know if i could do better, even if i‘m a casual. I just want to do the best for myself.

Not my fault theres so many babies playing that want to play games without playing them.
It goes faster if you do at least decent damage, you know…

Despite the posts above, it actually is their official stance. They're not out of touch - in a live letter, Yoshi P used these as examples for why they don't give specific advice for specific apps. Another example he used is using microsoft excel to calculate DPS from a copy pasted battlelog. Technically it falls afoul of the TOS, but in practice it would be ridiculous to enforce - but because making "per app" distinctions would never end, they have a blanket policy of using third party apps with FF14 in any way is not allowed.

Please note that I am not agreeing with their stance. But that's what they've said it is and that's their explanation.
