    Idea: Job specific upgrades to role actions?

    Just an idea, what would you all think about role actions that get trait upgraded for each job? Obviously not every single role action because some just work fine as is such as Lucid Dreaming over Peloton.

    Some examples:
    Low blow for Tanks
    • Paladin- Upgrades to Shield Bash,has no cooldown (and is an ability instead of a weaponskill)
    • Warrior- Upgrades to Shockwave and becomes a cone AoE
    • Dark Knight- Upgrades to Dark Command, increases the duration from 5 to 8 seconds
    • Gunbreaker- Upgrades to Velocity Rush, gaining 25y range and increasing movement speed for 6 seconds.

    Bloodbath for MPDS
    • Monk- upgrades to Detox, removing most harmful debuffs upon use and can be used while bound.
    • Dragoon- upgrades to Spirit link, also healing a nearby party member.
    • Ninja- upgrades to Syzygy, increasing the duration to 25 and healing for all damage dealth instead of physical
    • Samurai- upgrades to Saisei, reducing the cooldown from 90 to 60 seconds
    • Reaper- upgrades to Consumption, gaining a 150 potency shield on use

    Definitely not. Your suggestion entirely defeats one of the major points of role actions system - to provide baseline universal abilities to every role and avoid situations where any given job is favoured because their version of ability is better.

    Like poster above said, having the change to unique abilities would defeat the purpose of them as "universal" actions shared by jobs of certain roles.

    However, I do think it'd be nice if at higher levels the existing Role actions could be further enhanced in either potency or charges.

    I would be all over unique visual versions -- the ranged physical already have something like this (the 10% damage down effect has the same range, recast, and effect for all 3 but the animations are different) and, to an extent, tanks (the 30% damage down is the same for all 4 tanks, except Warriors get a very minor potency counterattack on it.)

    However, in terms of unique effects? Ehhh, unless they're so small as to not matter it's prolly more effort than it's worth to balance. If a Monk's version of Feint is better than the other melees', then it could be argued that Monk needs to balanced out in some other meaningful way, either by giving the other melee something better of their own or by simply having them do less damage.

    Also, giving warriors a conal stun might be fine in terms of theme, but my god man Warriors can already damn near solo every dungeon in the game, you wanna make them even *BETTER* at it?!

    This is something a lot of people dont like. having the same thing when there used to be different versions of the same move appropriate to the job. We want diverse looking and playing jobs, not homogenisation.

    You don't need the role action system for that.


    Remember shadowskin? Tempered will? Original foresight you got as a marauder below level 30? All did 20% reduction and were appropriately looking to their jobs

    How about low blow/shield swipe/brutal swing. All stun abilities that the devs have turned into the same action

    all i'm hearing is that the role actions could easily stay and have unique animations flavourful to their job instead of generic ones, and i'd be down for that personally
