Fatal DirectX Error troubleshooting and outcomes

Same problem here - for me its either the unknown error or an unknown error + variable DX errors.

Ive tried everything you tried and more, but i crash regularly after only a couple minutes. At this point i can safely say ive done everything i can, but i just cannot play the game anymore.
It all started with Endwalker for me. I had the occasional crash every other week before, but they just became more and more frequent after the EW launch.
Very very frustrating!
I wish they'd specifically comment on this better sooner than later, spent the whole last week checking my hardware and software for possible problems - even contacted my GPU vendor.
But since FF is the only game crashing, i can safely say its not a fault on my end.

I haven't gotten any unknown errors, just the direct X error. It's so inconsistent, could be right when I log in, or hours in, none one day, then 5 errors in another. Mine were occurring in Shadowbringers, though they've definitely come back with a vengeance in the last week. It's good to know it's not a fault on our devices and seems to be an issue with FFXIV. I just wish it could be fixed so we can all enjoy FFXIV as much as we want! \o/

Exactly, i just really want to play...

But as long as we don't get a statement from the devs or the like that even acknowledges the problem i have little hope they're even working on a fix.
Can just hope for future updates to magically fix something by accident
