FFXIV gets stuck if asked to exit on Windows 10

I'm on Windows 10 and the FFXIV client refuses to shut down properly.

If I ask the game to Exit, it brings up a frame from the trailer and then hangs. I have to bring up Task Manager on a separate monitor to kill the program (and I have to make sure Task Manager is on my second monitor as the stuck XIV client won't let any other program display on the first monitor).

I was having a similar issue on entering the game a while back. Removing razor synapse control panel fixed the issue for me.

    Greetings fellow Eorzean,

We would like to further assist with this issue. Please provide a system report from the game by going to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.' Copy and paste the details of the selection to this post when replying back.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

I'll file a ticket with that information later. No offense, but there's a 0.00% chance that I'm going to post a list of all the software I have installed on my computer here.

Update: I recently installed Logitech G Hub to reconfigure a mouse to deal with the Dreaded Logitech Double Click Problem. (Not sure what happened with Logitech; their mice used to be so durable, but that's another story.)

That's also approximately when XIV started having hang-on-exit problems.

I killed all the G Hub processes, logged into XIV, exited the program, and XIV exited cleanly.

I restarted G Hub, logged into XIV, exited the program...and XIV exited cleanly???? (Tried a second time w/ G Hub running and got a second clean exit.)

Until further notice, you can file this report into "Problem Somehow Solved Itself" bin.

It is linked to GHUB. It appears that many times, when you exit the game, the game seems frozen and stay on a black screen. You need to force the shutdown. I uninstall it and I have no more this issue.

Indeed linked to GHUB or, rarely, other mouse software like Synapse.

Asking SE to fix the situation is a noble effort, but the problem might actually not be on their end. This might be the fault of the mouse software developers. Who knows?

In the meantime, the following super-simple workaround exists. This workaround takes ten seconds and four mouse clicks:

    - Wait five seconds when you see the black screen
    - Click once or twice, and hit ESC once or twice.
    - Your screen will turn white and Windows will ask you if you want to send an error report.
    - Cancel this error report.

If you're saying this because you're under the impression it will take a lot of time; it won't. The instructions the mod provided take just a few seconds to complete.

If you're saying this because you're embarrassed or nervous about people seeing some particular piece of software you have installed, then just edit out that line from the text file generated when you follow the mod's instructions.

Like, literally the crux of this issue is a conflict with certain software people have installed. Telling the tech there's no chance of a list of software you have running is completely counter-productive.
