NIN Suggested Change - Forked/Fleeting Raiju

Good morning Eorzeans. This is probably my first post in years, but I have seen quite the response to my favorite job Ninja and the complaints of Forked and Fleeting Raiju. As many have already gone in-depth on the clunky mechanics of these abilities. I won’t recount the problems as I feel you get one 1 point for a problem and 10 points for a solution. So I have come with a recommendation as to how to fix these abilities.

My recommendation is that you leave the stacking buffs alone and instead of having 3 charges for a total of 6 abilities that cannot be broken for fear of losing the buffs is that you simply allow the use of one forked and one fleeting Raiju and the stacked buff impacts the potency for a harder hitting finisher at the end of the trick window. Also the stacking buff doesn’t fall off if you use abilities it just stacks to a maximum of 3 with a buff timer that will fall off if you don’t use it. This way you can still weave in Aeolian Edge between Raitons and it would allow for a buffed up potency forked and fleeting Raiju to fit inside the trick window.

Just a thought. Hope everyone is doing well. Stay safe and stay healthy!

I don't think I quite understand what you're trying to say should be done.

IMO they could fix the ability completely by doing this:

    • Separate the two abilities
    • Make Forked Raiju 425 potency and Fleeting Raiju be 400 potency
    • Keep Forked Raiju as a gap closer
    • Change Fleeting Raiju into a ranged attack
    • Make Raiton give 2 stacks(storing up to 6 charges max.) of Forked/Fleeting Raiju which can be spent on either ability
Something like this would be preferable because it would give ninja some of it flexibility back at the cost of small potency loss(only if the ranged attack is used).

    OR if thats too much:

    • Take the easy way out and simply make you be able to hold your stacks by not having them fall off with your 123 combo and keep the rest as-is
One of these 2 changes will pretty much fix the clunky feeling this skill has.

I like that idea and I apologize that my adjustment wasn’t clear. Basically, the solution to staying locked in a Forked/Fleeting state for 6 gcd’s is that instead of using Raiton to build up multiple a chain of Raiju’s is let Raiton build up a stacking buff (up to 3) that impacts the potency of Forked/Fleeting Raiju for a single use of Forked and a single use of Fleeting. This gives the player the option to keep the same mechanic but not be locked in a 6 gcd chain. It also allows to have a buffed up finisher in your opener to stay within trick (possibly). Hope that clarifies my suggestion. I do like the idea of having a ranged ability and a gap closer instead of two gap closes.

Buff the damage and make it so you don't lose the stacks on weapon skills.

    All problems solved.
