I'm pretty sure religion does that job well enough on its own.
Even resorting to prae posting, truly a new low.
Tell me you skip cutscenes without telling me you skip cutscenes.

Would it help you to know that it is made clear that primals are not the deities themselves, but what the summoners EXPECT the deities to be like--except imperfect, because people are imperfect?
And if you think they're being mean to Hindus such as yourself, hang in there for EW. You will change your mind.
9/10 bait. The main story of this game is threading on dangerous religious grounds mainly because of when a specific groups of people (beast tribes) summon their gods and we go there, kill their gods and put those people in their place after they get brainwashed (tempered) by their respective dieties. This kind of story is very dangerous in religious countries and square enix will get in legal trouble if they continue this type of storyline. This game has now gained a lot of attention and popularity. Its no longer hidden by WoW and the storyline will get a lot of attention now all over the world.
Basically the story of FFXIV is saying that "Don't worship your gods or else we will kill your gods and then put you in your place. All the gods when summoned turns evil and brainwash (tempers) their people".
I was also shocked to see that when a particularly important NPC told me all the 12 gods of the civilized races of Eorzea like Rhalgr, Halone, etc can be summoned if we lavish them with crystals and gorge them with ether. And when summoned the gods will turn evil (just like the beast tribe gods) and will fully brainwash (temper) all their worshippers. This type of storyline may have worked 15-20 years ago but nowadays in this new generation people will not tolerate it.
I won't be surprise if the storyline gets censored in the coming days in majority of the countries.
In saying that, unless you are in a 3rd world country, it is unlikely to be banned. Censoring wont work as that would require SE to edit the actual game, which I doubt they'd do.
And just so you know, the new generation cares less about religion than the previous, which cared less about religion that the generation before that. This is shown in census results in all first world countries.
Know that I'll kill your god if I have to. Maybe even if I don't.
I'm not religious myself, though I know many people who are that are perfectly reasonable individuals that don't force their views on those around them. I also don't think that the absence of religion in the world would actually solve many problems, because from what I've seen, even many people who opt not to be religious end up pursuing other ideologies that might as well be a replacement.
Not that this is the appropriate place to discuss such things at length, mind you, though I'd point to various 'good causes' that warp into cult-like movements, the zeal some feel towards defending certain products and of course, the blind support for 'their team' no matter what policies a political candidate may put forth.
One might even suggest that many supposedly 'enlightened' atheists succumb to such thinking, given how eager they seem to be to look down and ridicule those who might take comfort in religion.
Each to their own though, I say!
We are killing created gods made with human hands who cannot speak, see or hear. Which I agree with. Burn them down.
