Whenever I found out that Shadowbringers didn't have job quests and instead had role quests, I was really disappointed, but after playing them I actually enjoyed them well enough.

Whenever they spoke about EW's role quests, I defended the idea because quite a few of the Job questlines were.... "weak" (-cough-PLD-cough-) and decreasing the number of questlines to 5 would surely allow them to focus on creating good stories.

I've finished the Melee DPS role quest and it went from really boring to "ok" once they introduced the Company of Heroes. It was definitely a cool idea to bring them back.

I'm working right now on leveling 1 of each role to check out the other role quests but I feel like this was the perfect opportunity to bring back characters from the job quests that make up the role.

I would have loved to see Alberic (LNC/DRG), Jacke and Oboro (ROG/NIN), Wildargelt (MNK), and Makoto (SAM) coming together to help you defeat the blasphemy. It'd be a great way of bringing those characters back into the game.

It was also a little strange, narratively, that the reason why the quest lines were separated was because the Blasphemy "required a certain type of warrior to defeat", but then most of your team is not that type and with melee DPS in particular, you needed to find a ranged physical person to be able to defeat it.
