At the end of the tower of Zot, Yshtola mentions theres a body part in or somehow constructing the tower itself before dispelling the whole thing.
Was this ever expanded or explained? Poor translation? It seems like such a specific thing to bring up and never make use of.

My initial inference was that they just dismembered Varis's body so Anima could project its influence through the tower network from Garlemald.

Did anyone read it differently? Should I research this deeper? lol

Yes. It was a limb from the corpse of Varis zos Galvus.
Zenos and Fandaniel used his corpse to summon the primal Anima based on the Garlean devotion to emperor Varis. And the towers were an extension of that primal.

Telotowers / Tower of Zot

The Telotowers are all explicitly stated to be extensions of Anima, implicitly summoned using Varis' dismembered corpse as catalysts. When Anima is vanquished in the Tower of Babil, the rest of the Telotowers vanished as well.

And where was this "explicitly stated" or otherwise implied?
I see how they could potentially do that, but it seems odd to broadcast Anima through some towers while summoning anither primal to defend it. I presume this also means Anima itself must have some sort of physical link to Varis otherwise this seems contrived.as Yasayle was the only primal to really require a physical body, discounting Zenos stealing Shinryu.

It's mentioned either on the diner scene or on the moon transporter scene (or both) that

and due to this they can send from those extra towers Aether back to Babil so they can have enough energy to break what remains of the seals of Zodiark and, if I'm not mistaken, allow them passage to the moon.

Makes me wonder which other body parts are controlling the other towers. There are at least seven towers and limbs can only account for four of them.

You are correct, it's Varis' body part. If you take Y'shtola with you to Tower of Babil in Trusts, she outright mentions it.
