We should be able to trade in gear from the same duty for an omni+dyable version

Some gear in this game have a unique look per role but each piece is role locked. That means we may have multiple pieces of gear to glamour to achieve the same look for different roles.

This wastes a lot of glamour plates, which sucks since we have a limited number of plates.

    I suggest the following:

    1. There should be a single piece of gear that represents all the gear for a "duty". For example, the Ktiseos body piece has a casting set, a healing set, tanking set, etc. There should be a plain "Ktiseos Body Piece" that represents all the body pieces of the set.

    2. The look of the piece when equipped or glamoured will change depending on the current role. This way, to have a glamour for the Ktiseos set, we only need one glamour plate for all roles. Now multiple roles can share the same glamour piece, and we also save spots in our glamour dressor.

    3. You can make this set obtainable by having us collect all the pieces form the original duty first (healing body, tanking body, casting body, etc) and either trade them all in at once or have a craft that uses all of them as materials. This will incentivize re-running content to collect the pieces.

Other examples are all the YoRHa set pieces, the Moonward set, etc.

I don't really think that would work and play well with other systems. What happens when you preview the item? what happens when you preview it on a DOH/L? What happens when you dye it and put it into the glam dresser? is it always the same color for every class using that default part?

I do agree with you partly though. I like some of the Eden accessories, they're literally the same model across all classes. why can't i just have one blank set to use as glamour instead of stocking that many rings?

It should preview on the job you are on, and there should be a right-click option or something to allow it to display a different role.

If it's crafting/gathering preview, just have it default to PLD or something, after all crafter/gathering battle stances are just PLD stances anyway.

For dying it would work as it does now. Basically the gear just looks different depending on what role you are on, such that it encompasses all the pieces in a particular set. It will be the same color as you switch jobs.

I came upon this issue again today with the Shisui set glamor, I have to have multiple glamor plates since each piece is unique per role but basically looks the same. I'm sure the same issue is for every dungeon set.

This sounds similar to the Hempen set; it's the same item as far as the name and icon are concerned, but the pieces display very differently depending on the character's race. I wouldn't be adverse to a single icon-of-gear displaying differently by role, but I have no idea of the coding situation. One piece seems simple enough "if <role> = yes, display <set>", but not being a programmer in any fashion I'm sure it's not that easy and the number of options needed to be tied to each piece would get rather large.

I actually think this is a really good idea and would be very useful for things like AF gear, but i do think it would need something to prevent you being able to glamour gear before the level. Perhaps a default that would have it display as level 1 gear or something. It would certainly alleviate some of the glam plate issues. I guess the issue is that unlike the Hempen set which just has to check what race and gender you are, it would need to check what job, race, Gender and level in order to produce the required appearance. So could be a data read issue to parse all of that.

    1. If you have one set per dungeon then there would be less options for glam thus limiting the unique glams that players can create. I'd rather Mix & Match rather than wear a complete set.

    2. Why not just increaser the amount of glamour plates so that each job/class has their own plate?

    3. Are you a former WoW player? I feel like you want FFXIV to be just like WoW. Besides people already re-run content to get the gear pieces for their other classes.

    1. The set is for a single piece, such as the body piece. It does not impact your ability to make glamor in any way, it just reduces inventory or glamor plate spots required.

    2. My suggestion is separate from this. Of course they can just add more plates, but they haven't so there must be some issue. Ideally they'd do both. Also eventually you'll hit the 400 item cap in the dresser, my suggestion will alleviate this.

    3. I have never played WoW but are you implying that "want FFXIV to be just like WoW" is a bad thing? WoW does some things really good, one of them being their transmog system which from what I can see is far superior to FFXIV's glamours. Right now people re-run for other classes, but perhaps not all the classes. My suggestion would further encourage re-runs because now you need the whole set.

Addenum: by set I mean like a single piece (ie: body piece only, not body+leg+hands+etc) for every single role available from the dungeon. This should be tradeable for an omni body piece.
