~_~ let me clear something for you...

We are utilizing the "hardware" server of 2.0. but we are still currently using the 1.0 server configuration "software" Therefore even with the new "Hardware" server that is going to be use for 2.0 can't cope with 1.0 server configurations.

So basicly @Eekiki, you are wrong there. We are physically on 2.0 server but still using 1.0 server software.

This is the new server system.
Umm, no, it's not. This is the defective server system that's being rebuilt from the ground up for 2.0. What planet are you living on? As above- during one of the long maintenances a while back, they upgraded the server -hardware-, but the server software is still the 1.x software.

Do we have to go over this again? We are currently on the 2.0 servers as Yoshi said in a previous post BUT we are using the 1.xx server code.

Don't believe? Read the previous Dev posts.

That's my whole point. If this server farm is the system that's been deemed sufficient for 2.0, it is obviously insufficient for 1.x. Why, then, is SE going through great efforts to entice people to return to the game now, when they know these servers can't handle the crummy 1.x software? Wouldn't it make more sense to wait until 2.0 goes live to start all this "legacy" and "welcome back" stuff?

If I was Yoshi-P, I'd be absolutely furious. He and the dev team are literally killing themselves trying to save this game, and the IT guys are dropping the ball.

They are trying to get people who brought the game at launch to see how much its improved since then and to let them know about Version 2.0, there not trying to get new players just yet.

The welcome back campaign is happening now, between May 10th - 21st.

Also no IT person is dropping the ball, the 1.xx Server Software code is crap thats whats holding alot back, not the IT staff or servers them selves.

I think I'm being misunderstood here.

I didn't say anything about new players. I know they're only trying to get people who've left to come back. But they organized their server farm so it can only accomodate the players who were active at the time of the merge. They knew the 1.x software was junk. They knew the servers could only handle so many players. They knew they were gonna start these campaigns up that would bring back previously inactive accounts.

They should have known better, and had more servers to accomodate the growth they knew was coming. IT planning dropped the ball.

And it is also a simple issue. The servers are getting creamed. The solution is adding more servers and balancing the load.

You'd think for a company in Japan, where they build artificial islands and peninsulas to accommodate their expanding country, this would come naturally.
If this is such a problem why did they merge in the first place? I wasn't playing when all that was going on. Actually the merge is what made me check the game out again..... But it seems now like the merge just created problems? Especially since they want people to come back. o.o

They merged because most servers had 400-600 people and Yoshi wanted a bigger population per server 1000 - 2000, the current problems are mostly because everyone gathers in Ul'dah.

they already said the main reason is because everyone afks in the same zone in uldah

And everyone did this before the server merge, so why wasn't this fact taken into account when they planned the new server farm?
