I just don't see that. I see very few healers that only do one thing.

I do see a lot of healers who will let us wipe rather than use LB3, and I see healers that seem to never use their rez unless it's a hard cast.

But I see very few that only DPS or only heal.

I admit I did this twice. Once because I forgot to add LB in my hotbar after resetting the UI before you could save it. And the second time was when I completely forgot after a hiatus that you had to be within range. I raised exactly 0 people that time. That was the most embarrassing moment for me. lool I do often see a sage do nothing but send an attack once every few minutes during MSQ roul. Some people want to watch the world burn.

I find them almost every time I'm playing a class other than a healer. Kind of a magnet for that crap.

Theres an accepted ideology in this game of "healers need to dps" and its causing and has caused a lot of problems. 1 in any 8 player group you also have one healer and one dps spammer. This demoralizes said healer and they quit the role.
2 even the notion of healers doing their job will get you reported or banned from the forums. Def 2021.
3 I want to refuse my role as a dps and want party heals and self heals to make up for healer dps.
4 your parses mean nothing when the group is dead.
5 why even bother when 90% of you would be more useful as red Mage?
Stops wasting everyone's time and do your job or quit the role please. And when you rez, heal the person.

I love dealing damage as a healer! I wish we had more damage skills.

Healers contribute roughly 60% of the highest ranked DPS. That is hardly a small amount. In fact, back in Shadowbringers, it was statistically impossible to clear E8S and E12S without significant healer DPS for the first several weeks. Even E11S wouldn't be doable week 1.

Simply put, healers focus so much on DPS nowadays because there's literally nothing else for them to focus on. Outgoing damage is far too low, rendering a good portion of their kits as overkill. Healer mains have been asking for more damage or buffs/debuff management and have been told "no" due to it making things too difficult for casual players. Therefore, all they have is an incredibly dull DPS "rotation". Blame the dev team for this mindset not the players adapting to it.

Joking aside - and forgetting the basic troll post - when will we be taken seriously?

I'm bored. I love the healer principle in FFXIV. The mapping, the "you have to plan ahead and know the strategy" part.
But overall, and despite my little experience on this game (came when Shb was out), 60% of the time I spam a key. Two when I have to refresh my dot. Even sage, which is a dps based job according to the description given, has only one main button for dps.

Give us more mechanics to deal with. Please. Most people will always choose dps anyway.

So found this in another thread, I tend to do dps just because I hate have nothing to do but healing is my job not dps.


Today, Mr. Happy posted a video in which he describes a interview he did with Yoshi P during the reveal that occurred last month.

At the beginning of the video about the question in reference to his first question about his received answers, he stated that these answers were paraphrased and to not quote them but during 4:42 of the video seen here: https://youtu.be/5la_nyC5BO0?t=282
Mr. Happy states what Yoshi P wanted to make a clear point "I really want you to emphasize this to your viewers" then Yoshi P goes on to say "I firmly believe that it should not be mandatory(Healers DPSing) and we do not have the expectation for them to dps!"

Now, even if that was a paraphrase(which to anyone who views the video that it isn't) Yoshi P made it clear that if a person plays a healer....the game has been designed it for Healer DPS to be a OPTIONAL CHOICE! Not a required one.

Now we all know that you may vote kick players from content they qued for based on your view of "different playstyles" But let this be clear.....you are kicking these players not because of them not performing their roles correctly by not DPSing....but because you decided to dictate how you feel others should play!

I'll heal if there's *literally* nothing else to do, and if I have time for it, but I can say that I'm certainly not going to make it a priority to dps as much as heal. How much time I spend doing either depends on my group, and their performance, and the moment I know that I won't need that exact moment to throw a heal to save another player, I'll dedicate to damage.

The problem with this attitude is that players expect the healers to do decent dps even if the group itself is struggling, which makes very little if any sense. if people in the party are taking damage, even if that damage is avoidable, the healer is going to have to commit their cds to keeping them alive over getting dps in, and that's just how the cookie crumbles.

Tha vast majority do not do "both" and its become a glaringly serious problem. I'm sitting here in an 8 player with 1 tank down and half the dps down and I got a glare spammer and 1 person desperately trying to salvage the group. Explain to me how that is useful to anyone? I quit in shb because of this. Healers in 14 want to do anything but their job and it's gotten worse in ew with increased damage to players. So as a dps I want a full self sustain kit and tanka should have the same. Wanna broil all day? I want self heals all day.

Your "self-sustain kit" is called "Second Wind" & "Bloodbath" rarely anyone uses them in fights.

I can guess there are a couple of things happening to these people, as a healer main from HW-ShB I can attest to a few scenarios where it appears the healer is not healing.

1. If things die, there's no damage. I don't have to do more than a few oGCDs and 1-2 hard casted aoe heals through most content (especially something like a dungeon or Alliance Raid). These don't have cast bars or big animations and can be read as the healer not doing any healing, especially if you wove them into a glare/malefic/broil.

2. Vuln. Snacks. Sometimes no amount of healing is going to save you. So I won't even bother topping you off if you're looking 4 down the barrel and a raidwide is popping up.

3. You just ate two massive AoEs. I will swiftcast you, but since there wasn't a raid wide coming, I assumed you'd dodge after being smacked the first time. Generally as Sch, my fairy takes care of these people. I won't heal anyone above 50% unless I know big unavoidables are inc. Also, Bloodbath and Secondwind and other self heals exist. Use them. I assume you at least have them on your bars.

All these things can give the impression that I am not healing. These are some very common situations, and DPS should learn that healers do not exist to babysit you at Full hp.
