I choose to believe that Sophia was the goddess of gravity, whether or not we knew it. Thus, having beaten her, gravity is too scared of us to hurt us any longer.

More seriously, no, there’s no lore reason. It was just really annoying to take fall damage in dungeons and raids and have to heal up afterwards, and it served no purpose beyond and enforced wait at the bottom of a fall. So now fall damage only happens in the general world instead of instances.

That said, you can absolutely still die from a fall… if you’re in combat. The “lose all but 1 HP” safety is not there if you’re actively in combat when you hit.

During treasure maps with the FC, one of the folks in the party backflipped off the edge of a cliff in Lakeland right before the final mob died… and he went splat. The cliff in question is now known as “the <name> Memorial Drop” among our FC, in his honor. (I omit the actual name to protect the guilty.)

If you can take a hit from Ultima weapon and survive you can also take a hit from high falls. Im guessing the warrior of light got the protection of Hydaelyn, having a reinforced aether or something. Also Dragoons can jump insanely high and land without any damage done to them.

The game's not diagetic. Most of the stuff you see in dungeons is not actually what happens in the story, no matter how hard the cutscenes insist on it.

Also, get aggro and fall into Witchdrop around level 30 and you will find that none of the aforementioned theories about superhero landings or the Blessing of Hydaelyn will save you. You'll just die.

    1. Because I'm a Dragoon.

    2. The quest where we learn swimming explains the magic behind being able to breathe underwater as well.

The way I figure it, the fall doesn't kill you. The ground does. So I blocked it.

Considering a lore reason we never lose fights is because all the times we die or wipe is us having an echo vision of our failure, probably some bullshit that we keep having echo visions until we fall just the right way to not break our bones instantly?

An NPC out in Coerthas comments about "falling from such a great height would surely kill a man" or some such.

Of course, that's the same zone where you need to repeatedly jump off the towers to summon the S rank, so..... they knew what they were doing.

I’m more asking myself how I can defeat gods and a whole imperial base, but then in Uldaha there’s comes a tiny gnome saying “tie her up and bring her away“ and then I let myself being dragged away by a bunch of normie soldiers.

Because even in canon, I could possibly wipe out all of the cities including the city bosses.

That kid that was thrown off the top floor of The Vault back in HW would have been 100% fine if not for the fact that they had emnity with tge priest.

Clearly dynamis is at work here!

If we wanted lore reasons for that, we'd need to start asking for lore reasons why attacks with weapons like swords don't leave us missing limbs and so on...

I just mentally note "we're all made of aether here, not real physical bodies, so stuff is weird..."
