Gear that Deletes racial features needs to not be a thing

The level 90 tank, melee chestpiece deletes tails.

The level 90 crafter hat deletes Miqote ears.


This needs to not be a thing. If you're concerned about clipping, who cares. Everything else clips in the game. Either that or give these races a toggle that lets them toggle their tail on and off and ears as they see fit.

But cutting off my tail is a no thank you.

As someone who's played miqote for most of FFXIV's lifespan there comes a point where ear socks and tails randomly clipping through capes at odd angles just look too ridiculous.

Yep, removing facial features isn't the best solution. I'd much prefer they actually design pieces with racial features in mind, but barring that, at least put less things like capes that would allow for such ugly clipping or cutting the tail off entirely. Unfortunately, this has also moved to job design as well, with the reaper combined form also removing racial features: both tails and ears.

I agree. People pick these races to play for their racial features, so removing them isn't the way to go about it. I don't really mind clipping because I made the choice to play that race and knew it would like be a thing. Clipping is fine. Removing the choices I made in character selection is annoying.

I tend to not display hats so I'm less concerned there personally, but it should be avoided. I do not like the trend of doing it for armor at all though. I can wear something else, but if it becomes something that's done more and more often it's going to start limiting options.

All that said, it's actually an extremely poor choice to remove them from the reaper form. Doubly so with the claims that each race would look different. If that would have been done, it would have accounted for the racial features. It honestly seems like the form got condensed/rushed at some point.

I would like a toggle option. I love viera and their racial features, but sometimes I want to tuck their ears into a helmet. Other times, I want their ears to stick out even if it means clipping through a hat. It could be a toggle command similar to /visor. Just like how /visor only works for specific headgear, a command to hide or show ears/tails for certain pieces of gear would be nice.

Agreed, I've been getting progressively more irritated with the hats we've been getting, because they now seem to invariably chop my ears off, even if the design makes it seem like attempting to cram them under the hat would be illogical. I often find myself stuck glamouring the same 3-4 head items over and over again, because the intersection of "headgear that doesn't chop my ears off or give me ugly ear socks" and "headgear that I find appealing" is vanishingly small.

I chose Miqo'te for a number of reasons, one of which is that I like their racial features, and it seems a bit unfair that they just get taken away for no justifiable reason, now more often than not.

The miqo'te ear thing started back in SHB, lots of gear just stopped having holes/ear socks. It ended up ruining the ball cap for me.

It's so strange to see Miqo ears get deleted. Can't slip my horns into hats.. no-no-no that's too much trouble to tuck them INTO the veil. Seems easy enough for Enshroud, though.

I like my Moonward striking chestpiece, but I also like my tail. I don't particularly care about clipping, I've long been used to something on my character clipping through things as an inevitability. If there was a toggle I would be all for it, but I'd like to have my tail back and use a piece of gear I find aesthetically pleasing. :|
