    If you compare a world map of Hydaelyn with Earth, you find a lot of interesting analogues:



    Doma is China, Hingashi is Japan, Garlemald and Corvos are Eastern Europe, Thavnair is India, Aldenard is Western Europe, and Sharlayan... is Great Britain.
    meracydia is africa or something and there's that whole new world place off to the west on both maps

    What did Great Britain do? Make colonies all over the world, abandon them, hoard resources, then isolate themselves when things start going south.

    What is Sharlayan doing? Make a colony in Aldenard, abandoned it, hoard resources and knowledge, then isolate themselves when things start going south.
