Even my tests are simular. The spikes are coming from the ISP NTT. I thought about reaching out to them, but being a nobody I am sure I would be laughed off the phone.

I am sure SE will join them and laugh with them together
11 Pages of people around the globe sharing the same exact issue, with tracer logs and ping tests confirming the problem nodes, and zero feedback from SE on the topic. And your random reply to a problem you don't have is, "Yeah I don't worry about this cause I'm not having the problem."It's hard to worry about that when I don't have connection or lag issues.
I have 20ms constant and when I'm connected, I stay connected all day.
And about : "Poor" connection at the character selection screen.
This is because of the congestion during the hours when most people are playing.
If the login server is overloaded, well, it is also overloaded to respond to the request sent to the login server to display your character.
So why are you even here, posting in the technical support forum, if you don't have an issue and aren't trying to help anybody? There's 99/100 people with hard evidence that the problem is on SE's side and you're the 1 random person who wandered in off the street shouting, "I don't have this problem, what's the big issue?"
Get out please.
Have you guys tried a VPN?
I don't exactly feel like paying extra for a third party service to solve this but I am wondering if any of you have tried it and it worked?
Mudfish should be cheap temporarily if you only use it for FFXIV so I am thinking about that.
It's complete bs if it'd be necessary tho, SE should call them and ask them wtf is going on it's clearly a widespread issue and very particular nodes being a problem.
We pay monthly to play this game it's fair to expect it to work.
Edit: I ran Tracert today again...

The connection listing on the character screen is not based on the login server. There have been numerous times while this issue has happened where it's listed at Poor and the login queue was in the single-digit or the teens. All through the beginning of this expansion when the login server was actually overloaded with 1000+ in queue where it's rated as Excellent. The difference between these two is that the tracerouting and pings to the datacenter where either going nuts, as in the former example, or steady at a constant low response time, as in the latter. It's hard to worry about that when I don't have connection or lag issues.

So support suggested changing my DNS server. But I'm not sure how it'll help? I'm very unfamiliar with it.
Yep, making sure this stays towards the top. around 7 pm pst it jumps up for me and won't go down for several hours.
Small update on my end. I've been testing out a few VPNs and have found some success with Express VPN. The overall idle ping is quite a bit higher than normal (100ms up from 60ms) but I'm not seeing static 250+ during peak times that I once was. It's not a perfect solution but has certainly improved the situation enough where I can raid from 7-12 EST without fear of insane amounts of rubberbanding and disconnectes.
Oddly enough, I can disable the VPN during these times and literally watch the ping skyrocket in side-by-side trace routes.
Still more testing to do yet.
Ever since last night I have been getting really bad random lag in instanced servers/duties. Sucked because I wanted to clear P3s last night, but it made it really annoying. Now, this morning, I go to run Expert roulette and I'm still lagging costing me like 500 dps.
