I'm not sure if it was posted before but if not here it goes.
If you watch the 1.0 trailer again, at 6.00 timestamp you will see what is the reference!
Good throwback by the dev team.

The 1.0 trailer wasn't on the official channel before. Now it is.
That was a nice throwback to the OG game, but the people who thought it had deeper meaning to Silvertear Falls are going to be upset.

The mystery of what is so important at Silvertear remains. My guess? Nothing. Midgardsomr was too proud to accept charity so Hydaelyn made up something for him to protect. Like a little puppy guarding a dog toy.

I think that it's nothing now, but wasn't nothing then.
I've talked about this so much that I feel like I have to put it in a Notepad file at some point, but remember that the mystery of 'what's in/under Silvertear Lake' was exclusively a 1.0 thing, and has never come up in ARR. Which is a pretty reasonable thing to have happened; there was a lot of changeover and reorientation between 1.0 and 2.0, including a whole new writing and directing team, it's only natural that things got dropped or reprioritized.
Silvertear is one of the bigger ones, but I think the most obvious is Gelmorra; in 1.0 it had a lot more visible ruins, a whole third dungeon (that basically just looked like Toto-Rak, you're not missing much), and were the society that the endgame currencies came from. But when Yoshi-P stepped up, the Allagans started taking that role (starting with the 1.0 patches, in fact), and Gelmorra was minimized.

Yeah no idea. I really hoped we would get an answer to the old Silver Tear Lake question.

saw reference in EW with the primals shooting out
was a cool throwback

I, too, suspect it was so people would recognize the references to it in Endwalker, such as the primalsplosion. (And, yes, actually have a copy of it on their feed, lol.) They also did a throwback to the Limsa Lominsa opening.

Yeah, the opening limsa intro and the primals from the trailer was a great throwback. Glad a lot saw it too!I, too, suspect it was so people would recognize the references to it in Endwalker, such as the primalsplosion. (And, yes, actually have a copy of it on their feed, lol.) They also did a throwback to the Limsa Lominsa opening.

I don't think there's a particular lore reason. Endwalker is the conclusion to the journey that started with that trailer.
