The reason this line of thinking is fallacious, is because it totally misses the entire point of balance - to be able to play whatever job you like. When you achieve balance through making jobs too similar, you have effectively homogenized those jobs people wanted to play out of existence.

Sure, if things are wildly imbalanced then you may sometimes find yourself unable to play the job you like, due to certain people excluding you, but if said job's gameplay has been changed into something completely different, then you won't be able to play that job you wanted at all, because it basically does not exist any longer.

That is not to say devs should give up on balance, but that they should never lose sight of what the ultimate goal of balancing is - to let people play what they enjoy without worrying about dragging their team down. Different jobs should bring similar level of power to the table, but offer a wide array of different ways to get to that result.

Great to have so much love from my personal forum fanboy. I guess you'll remember me for the rest of your life...

PS: I'm pretty sure this claim was not for me, since someone else made a statement like "You don't play it properly.", but ok, keep stalking me.... friend

No one's "stalking" you lol. You just have been flooding the forums with nonstop complaints about how "easy" the game is now.

And yet someone else made this thread here. I haven´t been the first and i haven´t been the last one. A lot of poeple think the same, here and out of this forum. Still you´re the one permanently complaining about me, like i would be the only one, even when i wasn´t the person making the claim you answered too. So well, looks pretty much like stalking and making assumptions like "It´s Ssunny..." about stuff i haven´t even written down.

What is it with almost every troll post on these forums opening with "Henlo" specifically?

I mean yeah Savage and Extremes should be '' Dark Souls ''.

Dark Souls isn't actually difficult, it's just punishing and fair ( with some rare exceptions that could be considered buggy ).
It's also the design intent as stated by the game director himself, the whole '' prepare to die '' nonsense was something Fromsoft started pushing as a marketing gimmick but the devs never really intended the game franchise to get that reputation or for it to be used as a marketing gimmick.

The Souls games are punishing if you screw up, most games aren't and give you a billion chances before you fail.
That's what makes them enjoyable because they're fair yet punishing if you fail the fault is with you but it also makes success more impactful and rewarding.
I am not some ultra hardcore gamer or whatever and I can sprint through every Souls game with ease because I've put the work in and learned, once you figure things out and get a bit of practice in it's not actually difficult at all.

The problem is that most games and gamers nowadays are so used to everything being on ultra easy mode that when they're faced with a challenge they just collapse and get mad and stop trying.
Generally speaking the average joe doesn't like challenge.
It's the same reason why fighting games are such a niche because most people don't want to put the work in to be at least somewhat decent, they don't want to hop online and actually have to repeatedly fail and learn to get it.
But there's still a ton of people who do enjoy it a lot which is why there's a market for it, same with Souls games.
And same with Savage and Extremes.

Fully agree with your whole statement, just want to add something.

    a) At Dark Souls you´re still able to carry yourself with gear. Sekiro is much better without it. :P

    b) It´s not only about EX or savage content. Dungeons are the most braindead part of the game and definately need an overhaul since they´re a core part too.

    c) It´s not about difficulty only, it´s a lot about variety and a decent learning curve.
Things wouldn´t be so easy and boring if it would be more than "stack, spread, knockback" or "running from A to B". It´s more annoying if you wipe up to 1 out of 8 persons permanently at one mechanic, but not difficult. All those downtimes or untargetable bosses to gain ressources back or just because SE is like "Ühhhh they players can´t handle the mechanic meanwhile doing damage" is just time-waste and boring.
Just look at E12s. The most difficulty part has been the lions and not because it was hard to play, just because you had like 1mm to any side to kill the whole grp. Meanwhile you´d an untargetable boss in the 2nd phase at the 3rd! time you went for the debuffs. Doesn´t make sense when you´ve been able to manage such debuffs before meanwhile killing the boss.

(When i see ppl running around like chickens with a stackmarker above their head on level 70, 80 or even in 90 EX content or normal raids, then yeah... something is clearly wrong.)

Look at the game 2.0 and 3.0 was suffering to learn summoner but was rewarding me ..

    Now what ? A fully casual game ? A 3 or 5 jobs hard to play ?

I loved FFXIV to the gameplay but now i don’t know what is this game.

The question is : why SE keep making the game easier more and more ???

    Thanks for reading
This is the result of excessive casualisation. A game that works for most people, that would appeal to 7 to 77 year olds and not only to hardcore gamers.

This is the first time I've seen a game that openly tells you to shut up instead of telling people what's wrong with the new rules applied to FFXIV.

As a result, it has to be accessible enough without having to tell others that they need to improve a certain aspect of their gameplay, it's now considered harassment... LOL

And it also makes the Stormblood and Shadowbringer raids hard to finish, I still remember my last Alliance roulette, it was a pure joy to take forever to finish the first boss and to wype over and over on the 2nd boss of the first Ivalice raid.

The majority of players seem to have trouble finishing simple content like the Alliance raids while dying over and over.

Sad choice SE. I was quite happy with Endwalker's MSQ, but the overall content has become more casual than ever.

Savage and EX are punishing though. Ssuny acts like the entire game should be like that.
