Noaki Yoshida in one interview told that if players are bored with the game or if they have completed all PVE content then they should take a break and come back in the next patch. Frankly speaking this is very damaging to the game and to square enix as a whole because its an mmorpg and players play mmorpg to commit long term. Look at the WoW director, Ion Hazzikotas. He never told players to take a single break from WoW. Infact he gives players new ideas on how to play WoW differently when they get bored or during a content drought but never once he said to take a break.

When I play an mmorpg I play it non stop for 10+ years without taking breaks and I am sure there are millions of players like me who think the same way. Majority of mmo players have no interest in single player games.

Well there’s many MMORPGs out there that do have that infinite content loop you’re talking about. This game isn’t one of them. Still, this game is pretty old so it has a ton of content that I’d say takes about 2-3 years of playing every day to get through. XIV can definitely keep a new player occupied for quite a long time.

Now that I’ve finished all the content I was initially interested in, I occasionally wish for that infinite grind that other mmos have. But then I remember that this just isn’t that kind of game. It makes new content feel good. It allows you to savor it and really enjoy it without feeling like a hamster on a wheel who has to constantly keep up.

Well you pretty much admitted that you've bought into the philosophy that was ingrained into you for over a decade that a game should be sucking up all your time. Now you're having a clash of paradigm because another game developer is telling you it doesn't have to be this way.

playing anything non stop is bad honestly, it drains you until you get burnt out and it honestly ends up making everything suck.

honestly one should try to find open periods where they can do something else, go roleplay go mess around on something else, watch tv read something but if you are legitly playing nonstop all your really going to accomplish is a early grave.
