It just takes some of the feeling, i guess? away from the trust running experience for me personally. A lot of folks I talked to also were not a fan of the change for various reasons.

There's really nothing to be annoyed by. If anything, one could claim that it enriches the experience rather than detracts from it.
You have the Scenario-based system to stay in-line with the story/characters, and the Avatar-version, which is where you can manually level up avatars of your companions, even via dungeons they weren't present for and/or couldn't possibly be part of at all. It is still literally "Trust" in the menu despite this, whereas "Avatars" is technically more descriptive/informative of what is actually taking place.
Ktisis Hyperboreia and Holminister Switch are good examples when you compare their Scenario vs Avatar variants.
Sucks that it takes some feeling away for you, but personally, I couldn't fathom why it ever would for anybody. It makes total sense.

"And all the Hyur's say I'm pretty sage – for a White Mage!"
While maybe weird I think it is a move in the right direction and also may help open up more opportunities (like customizing them, I hope), avatars like FFXI's system meaning you're summoning the general spirit (avatar) of that member rather than their actual self. Which gets around them being in things they shouldn't be, if dead, indisposed, or whatever.
I honestly agree, seeing "'s Avatar" When say for example in the 71 dungeon is a bit disheartening cause I'd rather run it with Urianger and not Urianger's Avatar. It ruins the feel for me thematically as it's just like "Oh... They're just avatars..." I used to like running it for the exp grind but it just lacks the heart and soul that the system had before and I don't like the system anymore.
It's more of a "Now I'm not really fighting alongside these friends, like It's only a few steps away from just fighting with store mannequins really" like It doesn't enrich the experience but actually detracts from the fighting with the NPC's you want and while one could play NG+ I don't think people wanna go through the entire MSQ for ShBr just to run a Dungeon with Thancred when you could just as easily queue up with Trust and not have to do NG+. It's like if SE basically made the entire game with just you and all the other players were just NPC's Labeled "'s Avatar" You wouldn't actually be playing with your friends, though you can take them into dungeons they weren't present for. There's really nothing to be annoyed by. It's not always about the system needing to stay in line with senario, it's about the emotional connections that we have to these characters and having "'s Avatar" tacked on basically just kinda makes people disassociate from those enjoyable moments. Instead of Alisae saying "Good Thing Nothing Bad has Happened..." With Alphinaud K.O.'d on the ground it's just kinda hollow now and the enjoyment we once held is now gone.
People want to run their dungeons with their favorite characters and not "'s avatar" Because of the sentimental ties we've developed over the course of the game and the Avatar being tacked on takes away the bond we've developed with them. Sure you could claim it's just a title, but in a game where Names can have lore behind them, it really makes an impact on the players who cared to run Switch with Thancred because they loved having him in a party. It just feels really hollow now.
You can still assume it's Urianger. They're simply using "Avatar" as a colloquial term to help separate between running the dungeon with the available NPCs are the time or with your current roster of Trusts. At this point, you're placing far too much emphasise on a title that is ultimately meaningless and changed only to make it easier for players to understand which Trusts they can level and which are unique to specific story segments.People want to run their dungeons with their favorite characters and not "'s avatar" Because of the sentimental ties we've developed over the course of the game and the Avatar being tacked on takes away the bond we've developed with them.
