    Mixed Element Attacks

My main is THM but lately I have been leveling CONJ. I was looking at the bar I had set and thought to myself, "wouldn't it be cool if I could use water to "wet" the target and then cast thunder to cause a more extreme amount of damage."

The "wet" would apply like a de-buff would on an enemy target but wouldn't do damage, but just notifying your party that it is still wet and can be shocked or even frozen if using the correct spell following it. I'm sure you can imagine other possibilities with the other elements.

Any comments? I think this would be a big step for an MMO, iirc I haven't seen this type of system in any game.

Elemental wheels might be interesting, but some form of innovative choke for wind weakness may be better. Right now we have element debilitations but they're pretty cliche and not worth the mp.

isn't that already what the elemental debuffs like shock, burn, rasp etc do?

I understand you don't cast the opposing element, but it's the same concept.

This system was present with the "ancient magic" spells in Final Fantasy XI. As I recall, Flare actually lowered water resistance for a time, and so on.

try stacking them in a Battle Regimen(mDdown: on) with a Aero II following it. Seen a few 2750+ drop on raptors

I think FF Tactics A2 did that with oil and Fire. I know oil isn't really an element, but I did like the idea. Throw oil in as a spell and it can even slow enemies down. Damn, that's classy thinking right there.

Ninjas did this in FFXI and were originally geared to work well with BLMs, however, it never really took off in a party atmosphere. I do know some NINs that went through the elemental wheel to keep hate when tanking but you had to be a wealthy ninja for that.
