We need expansion in the afterlife

So you want a xpac in the atherial sea where we watch people break down to only there soul and get reborn? Because that's how ffxiv afterlife works. Its not a place you just visit with factions and such.

Well of course if we got that, they'd want the writers to retcon that and add in some enemy that completely retcons the entire 10 years worth of story and lore we've built up as some kind of "It was me all along!" moment.
