SE needs to implement queues for zones / instances

Sorry but this isn't really an issue. If you get into a party, you can get into the instance if even 1 person is in there. If you trying to solo hunts and having a bad time, using your brain alittle is free.

Your suggested solution doesn't work at all. People throw up parties even if they aren't in the right zone/instance, and you have no way of telling until you join up (and even then you can't really tell - all you can ascertain is whether they're in the same zone as you are). So "duh huh huh uhh just join a party" is a really, really dumb suggestion. Also, who does hunts solo? You would only get tag credit and would not get any meaningful amount of tomes, nuts, etc. Of course we're doing it in a party. I really don't know how a queue system for entering zones would possibly be a bad thing (especially when the alternative is to have to sit at an aetheryte trying to click through the multi-step process of getting to the right instance a million times hoping that it'll let you in).

Iunno, I zoned into the final zone when it had over 500 people in it without a single "zone is full" message. Clearly they've upgraded the systems over the years. In stormblood, they could barely handle 2-300.

The game has no idea what you are doing in any particular zone at any particular time. If you are going solo, obviously the game will put you into a zone without congestion. If you were in a party, the game tries to keep your party together, so if your leader is there ahead of the pack, you most likely get in. Obviously actual results may vary…

There really isn’t anything more that can be done because as you said, assuming a zone queue existed, by the time it pops for you the mob is already dead.

Moreover, this will not be a problem in a month or so when the “gotta have it now” crowd have already gotten whatever it is they want and hunts die down significantly.
