    Question about the "stats squish"

    Is it me or did we actually get weaker? Now I could be wrong but hear me out and also feel free to correct me on any of this.

    Ever since Endwalker came out I been taking longer to clear dungeons and alliance raids. For example The Nier raids are pretty much a nightmare now and take up to one hour and 15 mins (the last one).


    I've seen bosses in the first nier raid (factory) do mechanics i've never even seen before.

    I remember Yoshi P especifically saying "Oh dont WORRY GUYDS@!!@ You are NOT getting weaker I PROMISE!!!!! "


    Now I could be COMPLETELY wrong here and maybe i'm just being thrown into these raids with horrible players but i'm just not sure (reason im asking here).

    At the end of endwalker with eden savage gears and cryplurker gears I remember I would clear these raids in about 25 mins or less easily. Now it takes 50 mins on average.

    Also some dungeon bosses seem to one shot me too when before they couldn't?

    Anyways, I would like some input on this from people who know what they are talking about it would be greatly appreciated.

    I really hope we didn't get nerfed. One of the things i dislike about FF14 is how weak you always feel. You never feel powerful in this game. Even if you work hard to get the best gears and all that so it's very disappointing to become even weaker...

    while its certainly possible square messed up here or there on a general level no, alliance roulette if anything went quicker the 2 times i did it so far, so yea, anecdotal evidence i'll admit but if i had to take a guess than i'd say 90% you're imagening things, 10% square messed up some calculations.

    that aside, you manage to play this game and actually feel weak ? pretty much the only thing in this game that offers any kind of challenge are literal gods, and yes, that does mostly reflect in gameplay aswell. heck, savage mode isn't even "real" so while these fights are hard the game quite literally tells you "hey, just play along and act like this was a really hard fight for you so the story i'm telling sounds more epic, okay ?" quite literally the only content in this game that offers any real challenge is make believe in story.

    The game also has a lot of new players around expansion releases, which has an obvious effect on the perceived difficulty of content.

    This is what happens when you play a game that promotes vertical progression.

    I don't know about weaker, but I'm definitely seeing mechanics I've only ever seen in guides. Honestly, I kind of like it. I'm able to see all the mechanics I prepared for, and some of them can't be burned through like they used to be. On the other hand my alliance killed Phlegathon in Labyrinth of the Ancients before his second Ancient Flare went off, so I guess not everything has changed. Now that I think about it, the changes don't seem to have affected the ARR alliance raids at all.

    We didn't get weaker. Things are the same now. If anything, at some points we got stronger. Doing older dungeon content now seems to be going a lot faster.

    This isn't my first experience with stat squish in MMOs ( Yes i'm a WoW player )
    But compared to Blizzard who totally messes up their stat squish. I haven't felt anything here.
    If they didn't announce the stat squish I wouldn't have even noticed it. This goes to say much about the devs capabilities so I'm not complaining at all. I would say this is the best stat squish I have seen so far.
    As for difficulty in raids and instances. I haven't noticed any delay. Its as usual for me.

    Just you.

    We're not weaker, we are as strong as we ever were. They just didn't squish the stats for mobs as much plus they took away our belts so we're all tripping on our pants or fighting with one hand holding them up so it's kinda hard to perform the same as before.

    Yeah just some fights take longer bc of different stats or bc ppl play with untrained jobs for leveling or get into stuff they havent seen in years lol
    Just had an 12 min Siren Sea run vs an 22 one before lol

    As with past expansions, we have our share of jobs that got some extra stuff but largely remained, we have jobs that are completely new and we have jobs that have gone total rework. The last two are definitely going to affect general player experience across the board more than you realize. You have to give the playerbase some time to adjust itself. We have upcoming sages and reapers, we got smns relearning (despite the simplicity), etc. Easy mistakes are gonna happen more than usual. And this is just the experienced players of FFXIV. Add the exploding populace of sprouts and you can make the math for yourself.

    Stat squish fine. I know there are people who are going to swear by their feelings that they've got weaker and things take too long to kill but objectively speaking on that front, the squish is fine.
