Is there a reason that people don’t trust the breakpoints as given in Garland Tools? They seem to be extremely accurate (perhaps even datamined) and have been available since around expansion launch so I wouldn’t be excited about burning through stacks of materia to double-check them myself. Have they been found to contain errors or be unreliable?

Surely Garland Tools are as accurate as they can be. But these stats were clearly unachievable around expansion launch. So ultimately they were just predictions until someone actually tested them to confirm them. And by actual testing, one can also determine how achievable (and profitable) it is.

The thresholds I listed here are very useful for myself. I look at any MIN/BTN retainer of mine, check on its gear and its perception level, and then look at the table, and notes I wrote above, and I will have a pretty good idea whether I want to perform "an upgrade" or not. Because I can somewhat judge how much effort and gil I need to put in to perform a meaningful/impactful upgrade. The table above is basically a guide for "investment vs return" if one knows how to utilize it! Having a Garland Tools website just doesn't seem to do that for me... Is there no one who feel the same here?

Having Garland Tools is similar to having a MooMoo app for buying stocks. It is a very powerful and sophisticated app. But I'd rather having some extra guidelines to tell me what kind of capital I need to achieve certain amounts of earnings when buying certain stocks... They are just not the same.

    2660 Gathering, 2556 Perception Fishing retainer :
    L86 : 9 fish
    L87 : 15 fish
    L88 : 12 fish

    2660 Gathering, 2561 Perception :
    L86 : 9 fish
    L87 : 15 fish
    L88 : 15 fish

Sadly, there are no higher level targeted fishing Ventures to look at. All of the open slots in my (DoL) retainer gear are getting the 25 Perception materia, but I am not overmelding any retainer gear. I’m still in the process of making Indagator gear for my retainers; I have yet to make the Pants or Body pieces (retainers still have i560 gear in those slots) and the old gear pieces have at most T8 materia in them, not T10, as I knew I’d be pulling the materia out of the old gear when I replaced it.

I have 2403 perception on my fishing retainer and it's bringing back 7 L86 and 12 beyond that.

I did Indigator left side (no materia yet), pact rod and ophio right with +25 perception in each.

I'm holding off on dumping more into this with the limited uses for the fish.

I just stumbled upon this chart that shows how much perception I need for various tiers. Just wanted to give a "thanks" to the OP for going through all that effort to verify all the tiers. I was just working on two more retainers and it was a boon to get extra yield at 90. And here I thought 20 was the cap.

Was able to get my retainers all 4020 spending almost nothing
Indagator's Helmet and Boots plus both weapons are the pieces that will need a bit of overmelding but only to the 3rd meld, helmet to the 4th but with cheap old melds.
The rest of the left side you can either use 590 Pactmaker's or just buy the new Purple scrip gear, didn't need to overmelding that.
560 Ophiotauroskin all right side is incredibly easy to craft, only 2 of the pieces need a single overmeld each.

    6.4 is annoying.

Anyone know what Perception is needed for 50/8’s for level 90 items? 4072 Perception is insufficient for 50 Raw Star Quartz, or 8 of anything Ilmenite and lower on the list.

    EDIT :

Ok, just took one of my Mining Retainers and MAXED Perception out. Got to 4235 Perception. Not everything required pentamelding, but everything that took it got it. Body, Hands, Legs, Feet, and right side accessories could meld to max Perception. MH, OH, Head could not reach the item’s Perception cap even with all 5 melds used.

Level 90 Raw Stone Quartz maxes out at 50/hour.
Level 90 Stoneheard Water, Lunar Adamantite Ore, Rhodium Sand, Rime Dolomite, Raw Eblan Danburite max out at 9/hr.
Level 90 Ilmenite, Raw Rutilated Quartz, Ash Diatomite cap out at 7/hr. I suspect that these would also hit 8/hr then 9/hr if there was enough Perception available to do so.

    Hi Roth,

If you check out my first post's update back in January, I had added the following chart:

I had tested it to be 4107 back then

So you were right that 4072 was not enough, and 4235 was enough (at least for Raw Star Quartz)!

I don’t see myself melding my other miner or my botanists to that degree. It depends on just how lucrative the fourth Workshop makes the Island Sanctuary.

I’m actually a bit miffed that the best gear melded to the max does not allow bringing back the maximum of everything. Those timed nodes only coming in at 7/hr is annoying compared to the 9/hr of the other timed nodes.
