Yup. Cameos are fine and dandy but I don't want anything copy/pasted into this game... EXCEPT TRIPLE TRIAD!
i wonder if SE doesnt already have this in mind. It kinda fits with Yoshi-P's vision of FFXIV beign like a themepark. They got legacy weapon coming in 2.0 (which i think means weapons from past FF games). And i may be mistaken but i think Yoshi-P did mention in a post or interview that we wish to bring elements from past FF games. Maybe he meant the legacy weapons, maybe he meant more.
WTV i think this is a genius idea and any true FF fan will welcome it.
things i'd like to see from old final fantasy games.
1. a battle arena for pve so people can use strategy and learn to play your classes better.
2. the materia system the way it was done in 7 with some adjustments. say you attach fire materia to your bow and then you begin casting flaming arrows.
3. chocobo breeding and racing.
4. some hard to get to mobs that take massive effort to beat.
5. a golden saucer type area for mini games. it would be a fantastic way to spend hours of downtime.
6. a true summoner class with quests to gain the summons they use.
7. more engaging story and interactive world.
8. long journey effort weapons such as ultimate weapons. i want some long term goals and not going patch to patch being able to get everything in a few weeks.

1: Storyline with the primals expanded upon. The ability to 'worship/side with' a primal.
2: Dual wielding. More weapons. Blunt/Slashing/Piercing on some weapon of every type no matter how strange. Guns.
3: Gambling Class. Time Mage. A true summoner class that summons a different type of primal than the ones we can fight. Story with that idea. MULTIPLE KNIGHT CLASSES (Ark knight, Temple knight, Dark knight, etc.) A debuff class. A buff class.
4: NMs that actually drop things worth getting for endgame. And that are actually hard to claim or get to.
5: Tetra Master
6: Weapons from past games. (Masamune,Ultima Weapon, God hands, etc.)
7: Spells that made BLM actually badass (DOOMSDAY/METEOR)
8: Nostalgic music. I want to hear the music from fighting JENOVA on fights. Or maybe make some system to where you can replace battle music with old FF music by earning it somehow/unlocking it.
9: Chocobo breeding needs to happen.
10: Treasure hunting minigames
11: Way more varied areas. All the areas are pretty, but it gets boring. So does the music.
12: MORE EASTERN FEEL. super cerial guys.
13: Secret bosses. I wanna fight the ultima weapons, magus sisters, Nero, Hades, etc.
14: More FF enemies. Yans, Tonberries, etc.
15: I really loved the feel of playing a final fantasy for the first time threw, and feeling as if you werent in control of anything, that anything could really happen at any moment. You would fight a boss and think it was rediculous, then come up to another that topped it tenfold. In this game you can expect all the same things all the time. Theres no crazy OMGWTFCERIOUSLY FF moments. Prease bring that back.
I thought I heard once a dev or Yoshi or someone say that Golden Saucer and fat chocobos are to make a return in 2.0. Fat chocobos are supposed to be bred to carry items, while other chocobos can be raised for battle/magic casting or mounts. Gambling would be a gil sink I'd be willing to take part in if they can get away with it. But I'd like new legit towns that have an actual reason for you to go there, and things to do other than instanced battles. We also need memorable characters. The current ones beyond Hildebrand don't seem too fleshed out. Where is the classic SE storytelling?! The landscapes need to be more whimsical looking, but awe-inspiring. Quasi-realistic copy pasta land doesn't really fit in with Final Fantasy.
As far as things that shouldn't be in the game: We don't need viera. They're exclusive to Ivalice only games and it would feel too fanservicey if they shoehorned them into the game bc a vocal minority is all "omg bunny girls". That being said, I wouldn't mind if they just scrapped the current ideas of 2.0 and threw it into Ivalice... Oh! we can also deal fine without angsty teenagers.
Limit breaks!! (just not overpowered, maybe long timers? 24hours?)
5: Job system, classes: no thank you
6: More magitek!
7: Large, snowy, barely inhabitable area; chocobo racing/breeding of course
9: In-game card game
11: Job system again, mature cooperative community
12: Maybe release a NPC you can fight with and use some kind of gambit system for them
Tactics: Let us set passive abilities from other jobs
I'm totally OK with cameos.
I've been purposely NOT responding to people in this thread, since they would entail negative/positive response on my part for something that was meant to be more fun and opinionated, but I have to say that I'm TOTALLY with you on this one.
The way the materia system is now is a ridiculously annoying time sink, and knowing the player base of MMO, it may eventually become required for high # of melds and that would drive me away from this game.
well one thing i loved about the materia system in vii was you could go and get this super awesome weapon, but only be able to attach 1 materia, but could have this much lower piece and be able to attach 4. it was a give and take on whether you wanted the base stats or multiple pieces of materia. the way they did materia in this game was more of enhanced gear/permanent sanction instead of giving you abilities you would not have otherwise.I've been purposely NOT responding to people in this thread, since they would entail negative/positive response on my part for something that was meant to be more fun and opinionated, but I have to say that I'm TOTALLY with you on this one.
