Removal of HQ wrecks GC Provisioning and FSH Leves

Among all the other discussion of issues that I'm trying to stay out of, somebody seems to have overlooked one thing with the changes made in EW:

Removal of HQ materials has completely erased any bonuses that players could get through turning them in to their Grand Company and especially is going to be a problem for FSH players, as now there is no way to maximize their XP gain from Guildleves and are going to be burning through their leve allowance even faster on a job where leves are really the only avenue for leveling up in any timely fashion.

Yeah, bigger fish to fry right now and all that, but it feels like somebody just didn't notice this when pulling HQ from the game. I'm all for the recovery of inventory space but the issue is that it has become literally impossible to trigger the "Bonus" flag on these turn-ins.

Personally, not something I'd be too bothered with. Leveling gatherers was pretty trivial to begin with.

Eh, I think with the decrease in xp required per level it makes up for it

I went from level 82 to 83 just trying to catch the fish Onihige because there's none for sale, and I don't even know where it exists, so I had to go unlock every ocean fishing hole I had access to trying to find it.

Fisher is fine if you're the one doing the fishing. If you're just buying the fish to turn in.... well, it'll be slower.

Update: It's spearfishing in an old zone, I got the durn thing finally and hit level 84 in the process from the turn in. You'll be fine.

Found the onihige! It's in a fishing hole for spearfishing level 85 in Ruby Sea around 30,2, North Onokoro! It's the small fish. Veteran Trade turbans if you get them so you always get oni!

I'm stuck not doing MSQ because of sound issues and I've gotten BTN and MIN up to 86 just from what I could gather in the first two zones to provide for my crafting. The Gatherer's Boon boost more than makes up for the missing HQ. I haven't tried fishing yet, but I imagine it will be similar. It seems the change has made it so someone actually has to go gather to level up, instead of just relying on turn ins. Which frankly is how it should be.

Honestly, I feel like it was even faster getting from 80 to 90 than it was from 70-80, which is saying something considering how fast I thought it was in ShB.

I had the Studium quests for Botanist, so that helped boost it and I really just went after collectibles for the most part in between. Fisher took me...four hours or so? Throw on some Netflix and do a few leves per level. hell I'd usually not need all the leves because I'd end up having leveled so much just trying to catch certain fish. Miner I'm working my way through and I suspect I'll be done with that in a few hours as well.

I'm not quite sure what process you're using to level, but the system they have now feels ridiculously fast in comparison to what it was before.

Forget Leves, levelling Fisher is hilariously easy. The level 81 ability, Prize Catch, guarantees that the next fish you reel in will be Large and grants a stack of Angler's Art. Thaliak's Favor costs three Angler's Arts and restores 150 GP. My levelling went like this:

1. Prize Catch until less than 200 GP
2. Pop Hi-Cordial
3. Prize Catch until less than 200 GP
4. Burn Angler's Arts on Thaliak's Favor to restore GP
5. Repeat from Step 1

Do the above while on the Studium Quests and you'll rocket through the levels. Took me maybe two hours, tops. Prize Catch trivializes an already easy levelling experience.

I got to nearly 83 with no rest XP just with fishing + quest XP doing the first Studium quest. If I'd remembered to refresh my food and gathering manual XP buff I may have gotten halfway to 84 in the process. FYI, I was using HQ Coffee Biscuits and the White Scrip gathering manual. If we're supplying the items ourselves, the XP gain from the gathering is significant. Of course, buying stuff off the MB will be less, but more convenient.

Yeah I'm 90 now (my first 90 was FSH lol) and it was ridiculously easy to level just unlocking areas and getting those first-time catches, doing the first couple Studium quests, and playing with the spearfishing minigame. I didn't even bother with the book xp buffs or leves because I didn't need them. And I haven't even touched fishing in the 5th zone, just the ones up to that.
