This is reflected a lot by how a lot of NPCs react to WoL at first throughout 2.0 to current content as WoL names tugs at them at first until it hits them later that he/she is the legendary WoL they heard about from the stories being told.

I can only assume the stories about WoL are overly exaggerated to a point his/her appearance in those stories is not so accurate description of his/her appearance.
But even at that, the feeling of wonder and new is undone the moment they realize you are you. I mean, I think the writers would do a good job regardless if the new arc takes place in another continent, but I feel that there's the best potential in a shard where there's no way nobody ever heard about you and you bring nothing of the Source to it.

And by that, I mean world-building, since in theory it has the potential, lore wise, of a brand new game, since they don't have to connect anything back to the Source for it to work. And the biggest thing is while at that, they don't need to forget the Source exists, because it can still thrive as its own entity with side content.
