In the end, every change, every design choice, is up to the devs. If they decided to go one way with an element of gameplay or a job, acting like they kicked your dog on the forums isn't going to change anything. At some point, you have to cut your losses or you're just wasting energy being so emotionnaly invested into something that won't change.
Galaxy brain.
If that's your approach then why come back to the boring healing at all and not stay at the far more exciting jobs.THe tipping point for me is when I get bored enough to play something else for a little bit and come back once my boredom is sated. There's more to this game then playing a healer, you find something else to do and come back once you're feeling up to the task again, or you don't come back and let all the people who still think healing is the hardest role take over your spot while you play something else.
I know right, while we're at it why don't we make the nuke do a 500 potency shield + heal on allies everytime you cast it?

Are you guys looking forward to Trial 3 healerless?
If healerless runs can pick up in awareness and popularity, especially if we can start seeing the occasional PF group role-restricting for these specific comps, then it's entirely possible that we can see some kind of reaction to address the issue. That said, the most likely outcome will be that sustain will get gutted from non-healers rather than make it not enough to carry the entire party.
Sustain and mitigation should be scaled back on non-healers.If healerless runs can pick up in awareness and popularity, especially if we can start seeing the occasional PF group role-restricting for these specific comps, then it's entirely possible that we can see some kind of reaction to address the issue. That said, there should also be more incoming damage.
As someone who only plays healer rarely on a whim, and never in serious endgame content, I really do agree with all of you. Tanks are too impervious (not looking at you, DRK, you're gonna die without outside healing in 20 seconds tops), and while DPS are considerably more squishy, WARs and PLDs are able to keep at least one up with them indefinitely. Good usage of Bloodbath/Second Wind also fills for the healers a lot.
So SE should either give healers something to do that isn't "keep up one dot, spam one GCD damage spell, oGCD heal someone who messed up or raidwides", or drastically increase how necessary healers are. Preferably both, so that you can still have downtime and do stuff with your rotation. Keep WHM as the simplest healer with one dot, Glares and the occasional Afflatus Misery, for people who like current healing style.
This is how the rest of the healer role gets dragged back down into sucking again an expansion or two after getting fixed. After all, the role should be "balanced", and one healer being significantly stupider than the others while having the same output doesn't sit well with the playerbase. So the solution is obvious: make them all stupid!
Sylphies could always play like Glarebots; I wish dearly that this one role, and this one job weren't the constant target of this need to create a wastebasket for people bad at video games. There's never been an argument on the DPS forums that we "need" a braindead 1111111111111111111 class, because that thread would be laughed out of existence. Make WHM Not Terrible And Stupid Again.
There still will be a simpler class and a harder class. Since CNJ is the only starting healing class, WHM seems to be obvious candidate for SE's goals — to have some simple job to ease people into tanking/healing. Then again, I'm an ex-DRK main of three expansions, so I do understand how WHM players (but probably all healer players, considering SCH and AST's changes over the years, too) must feel. This is how the rest of the healer role gets dragged back down into sucking again an expansion or two after getting fixed.
