Endwalker's message (spoilers!)

Given the last two years, all that we have faced, and an uncertain future, I'd say the message was quite apt and relevant, wouldnt you say? The message that despite all we have faced, and what may yet come has been a massive trial for all of us, to send the message that there is still hope, and promises of a better tomorrow, is what we need to hear and remember?

"Every day is a bonus".

Covid didn't have an effect on my life as much as it did on other people, so no, it wasn't really relevant (again, to me specifically). If that message is what you needed right now and it truly gave you hope and motivation to move forward, then I'm happy for you and hope you're doing great in your life, and if not, things will turn out to be better eventually.

Endwalker definitely is behind ShB for me, I think the only moment I really felt anything close to crying was during the talk with Venat on the bridge, and it was more of a lump in my throat than anything where in ShB I came close to tearing up quite a few times.

The message of the story makes sense, wanting to be perfect will always disappoint you in the end because you can't, that is true, we also know that the more comfortable we get, the higher chances we have of developing depression, but that's is just our monkey, tribalistic brains trying to work out life where most of us don't really have to fight for survival day after day and don't have to fear our neighbors invading our lands and killing our tribe, afterall we didn't evolve to just sit and watch TV all day, we evolved to survive. Did every civilization in the galaxy evolved just like humans in the FFXIV universe?
Still though, the story felt way more ARR levels of anime-plot than Heavensward or Shadowbringers.

I don't know, I can't say it really resonated with me all that much, not even if I compare it to the suffering Covid has brought me and my family.

Idk, Nier is known for its dark endings. Multiple dark endings, usually, each one darker than the last. So it can be done, it's just not particularly common.

Uh no, they are crap ton of stuffs (from Japan or otherwise) that are plenty dark, bittersweet ...etc... You're complaining about why a cakeshop only sell cake. If you want a hamburger go to a hamburger shop.

more like a cake shop they only sells cheese cake instend of chocolate cake.. not really I've looked around very few things do have that dark ending (and in anime terms) thats typically unfinished anime like deadmans wonderland

To be fair, FFXIV has always had darker moments - it just so happens that a vocal portion of the community attacks anyone who likes such things whilst demanding that no harm befalls the majority of prominent characters in the story, even those that have arguably reached a point where they could retire or perish in a meaningful way.

The themes for this expansion were very conflicting. To know hope you have to know suffering so an abusive mom decided to decimate the world instead of talking things out with her children so that they would know suffering and in turn know hope but her children already knew hope as that’s what allowed them to summon dad to protect them. Seems a whole lot like a jealous marriage scandal to me. In other words don’t get married.

The MSQ was nice but the more I looked at it the more I noticed the rather large flaws of it. Zenos wants to fight us, Fandango wants to get to Zodiark, Zenos can apparently destroy the seals by himself but they opt for these stupid towers (and before anyone mentions it, yes I fully believe Zenos could destroy all the seals by himself. It's Zenos, the guy is one more poorly written power up away from basically becoming God), why didn't Fandango just tell Zenos "hey you destroy these seals and I can assure you that your crush will come running to fight you!". It just feels like they wasted patches and a third of a expac for these towers just to go "Welp, guess we'll do it ourselves".
