MACHINIST [What we could have had, and I would still love to see]

Instead of Queen getting new moves... it would have been cool to have the MCH "summon" a prototype magitek personal armor to "transform" (a la Reaper mechanic), and change all of the MCH standard abilities to high-powered energy projectiles with cool new effects. 20s of being basically Magitek Iron Man (without flight), using a new gauge like RPR's. I would have had it "build" up a power core, and once full you could activate the skill, transform, and all your standard single-target or AoE shots would be enhanced and have rapid recast times with a laser-style "finisher".

I think it would have been a neat take on MCH and give us a fun ranged "booster" skill. Oh well. Would that it could have been... I shall dream forever.

Keep dreaming because that's been a quite popular idea for a long time...

I would personally make it a Flamethrower phase, rework Flamethrower to make is a reaper like stance that replace your 1 2 3 for 50 heat.
The reason behind it is that MCH rotation is a cycle that consists of using Drill, Air Anchor and Chainsaw on cooldown with Hypercharge phase that "locks" your GCD to Heat blast.
Replacing one of these Hypercharge Phase would respect Yoshida's idea of low buttons, keep the rotation simple since you trade a phase for another phase and make the rotation more interesting.

The Queen's second finisher is a horrible idea in my opinion, it does nothing but making a bigger focus on the Queen's problem. The guy who came up with this idea should not be fired but forced to play MCH in every content multiple times, to understand how janky and inconsistent the Queen is.

In my opinion, MCH's future should be Reaper's avatar phase but through multiple tools, including the "Queen's suit".

I was honestly expecting the gathering bazooka from Diadem to make a return for mch.
I don't really want a mech suit myself, but I was thinking about some aerial support. I just want to hear an airship swoop in and dump promethium on an area instead of flamethrower. I'm sure we could liberate a Garlean ship now for some missile and lazer support.

The good news is that it's already in the game as Cruise Chaser.

If SMN are able to get Bahamut, I don't see why MCH couldn't have a reskin of Cruise Chaser, that would be lit.
... Of course as long as Ark is not another glorified dot with no control.

What your asking is for a job to copy another job. That I say no for obvious reasons as a advocate for job sundering.

And even with new mechanics (as utterly desperate as it needs them) how would this mesh with Battery and hear without hindering them or feeling tacked on? I don’t mind word vomit but I do mind unoriginal word vomit

I'm honestly surprised they did not do this. You see magitek vehicles in the game already, and it seems odd the machinist is not utilizing this or a personal suit of armor like you suggested. I'm fairly new to the game, (taking a break and hopefully I'll return when the queues die down) but when I saw that this class could summon a robot, I thought the next step in Endwalker would be a suit. They could even allow you to customize what it looks like. This is a deep well of inspiration and content they could draw from. It just seems like a win win and a missed opportunity.

it could easily be added as an upgrade to Hypercharge.

Trait that causes it to summon a mech for us to fight in for some time.
Upgrade Heat Blast and Autocrossbow to be Weaponskills that don't share recast with anything but each other.

Hypercharge lets us spam Heat Blast when we unlock it.
Upgrade allows us to spam Heat Blast between Heated Shots instead of them being mutually exclusive.

We get to pilot a big stompy robot firing cannons all over the place as a natural evolution of the job while outside of Hypercharge we're blasting away with all our gadgets.
