Basic Garuda Positioning [video]

I was wondering how people are doing Garuda since the WAR nerf. Steel Cyclone does what.. 300 dmg to plumes now if it cirts or you have a good DD war build? I know this is kind of an old topic for most and most don't care about garuda anymore but any help would be appreciated.

Those of us who chose to fight Garuda without resorting to BLM's exploiting a flaw in the AI still are interested. That video is great, but if you do attempt the fight, you need to communicate and cooperate. It is not a walk in the park as so many would make you believe.

First off, you need to really master the first phase. We learned that if you wait 2 seconds after you see "Garuda uses Plumage" in your chat log to use Rain of Death or other AoE's, that will wipe out most of the plumes, leaving you with minimal that need to be hunted down. Don't go by the visuals since that's susceptible to lag. At the same time, you also need to be taking her HP down with a relatively fast pace. If you let her teleport more than 3 times, her attacks will overwhelm the rocks, which is your only way to survive Aerial Blast. Assuming you have her close to 50% after the third teleport, watch for her to use the 3 sets of plumes. Everyone should gather close enough for stoneskin, battle song, etc. Don't forget to kill off those last few plumes. Hopefully, enough will survive Aerial Blast. The White Mage uses Benediction to restore everyone's HP, and you begin phase 2.

That's all I can help with. I'd say the most important part of phase 2 is not to panic. Your HP is gonna drop, and while the obvious reaction is to run for your life, everyone's gotta trust that your WHM will survive, and thus, you will survive. Stay calm, stick to the plan, and finish her off. I'd love to hear from others on how to best master this transition, and any other strategies for the last couple phases.

I would like to hear some winning strategies for this fight since the war nerf. My LS can get through the first phase with everyone alive, benediction to full HP, then we wipe quickly afterwards. In phase 2, Garuda mostly seems to warp to the center, everyone tries to run behind her, and usually everyone dies but one or two even if we do make it behind her. We're kind of stuck on this part. Any ideas?

Are you using the mini-map to track her 'warps'? It's more reliable than looking at what's on the main screen anyway. Other than that all I can suggest is you need more damage so you can skip phase 2 quickly or even entirely. The instant-cast Mistral Shrieks will ruin your day so it's important to get her HP down as fast as you possibly can.

I don't understand how you can tell the direction she is facing from the mini map? The problem we have is getting behind her quick enough. Does she always face a certain direction (like to the center) when she warps to the middle?

From my experience she always faces the person with most hate, the tank, i think
