I think a lot of people forget that in cases like this, where women try to ensure only "real women" are allowed in a certain space, they often end up attacking or excluding the wrong people. Like someone else said, voice verification is extremely inaccurate. I've met some cis women with some pretty husky voices. They would get called men by these "real women" and chased off. The same way they attack women with broad shoulders that they encounter in public bathrooms because they think they're trans women and therefore just men trying to sneak in there and peep at women.

I saw all that go down on Twitter when it happened, so it was a relief to see that they couldn't just come here and pretend all that didn't happen and rope in more innocent people, but it's also disappointing to see people encouraging it.

There was an app recently that did just that. It had you send in a picture to confirm you were a woman and would reject born-females for "being male". If your nose was too big, voice too deep, makeup not on, skin too dark... Google "Giggle App" to see what I mean.

I would recommend that this Discord just do away with the confirmation process they have and deal with creeps as they arrive. Besides, if someone nasty wanted to get in - they would find a way regardless. Voice changers are getting better these days and its not hard to find a photo of a girl from Facebook and pretend to be her.

Please, don't be purposefully ignorant. Not every man or white person is a racist or sexist, we are all aware of that. Wanting a safe space away from those groups is still understandable regardless. And if you were so virtuous you would be supportive of them instead of taking it personally.

You sound like every person who says "but I didn't" or "not all x" misdirecting from the actual issue at hand because you are so concerned with yourself rather than the people who are actual victims. The fact of the matter is that men and white people DO marginalise these other groups (again not all of them), so it should be no shock when people within those communities want a space without them. If you are white or male you should recognise that there are people within your community who do bad things and work together to rectify such behaviours rather than deflect with 'I didn't do it', plenty men around me wouldn't do such things but they DONT call out their male friends who act like total creeps, they don't report their crimes to police. And for some the lesson comes to late when a male friend has r*ped one of their female friends, only then did they realise their mistake.

This is what I'd recommend too. A creep is a creep is a creep, just deal with them as reports come in, rather than trying to preempt by having some extremely crummy "verification process" that would leave a CRAP TON of women falling through the cracks and delegated to the male "supporter" role.

I'm a man, I can attest that most of us are cool with girls being fellow players, who have no interest in relationship and all that jazz, but there are still enough idiots who just won't get it.

I feel like I heard about that but I can't remember. Sounds believably awful, though. Why do people think that there's any one way for a gender to look? Literally, even among cisgender people, there are so many different features and combinations of features that just can't be put into a box.

Not all women want to be "strong" all the time. There's no need for them to permanently be around people in whose presence they have to be "strong". That's the point of that server.

You're mistaking me arguing for women-only environments in principle with me saying I have to defend women from men on the internet.

Explain to me why I can't join that community. You said that they want to get away from people that have marginalized them. Therefore, I am being judged by the color of my skin rather than my actions. Do you realize now how that is the definition of racism?

Do you think it would be perfectly acceptable if I made a discord server that didn't allow black people to join? What If I opened a shop only for white people? For some reason, it's socially acceptable to discriminate against men and I am not okay with that.

There is a reason why men don't go in women's bathrooms. You're okay with that? Well what's the difference then? I'm not pressed about being excluded from a place I don't even want to be in. Many people claim they wouldn't want to be there either, yet the reason why they're pressed remains a mystery.

And yes, if i want to organize MY personal space according to what I want it to look like - it's none of your business. Seethe all you want but if I don't want you in MY place you won't join.
