FFXIV Girls only discord server

I love how this devolved into a war on gender and sexism when if anyone bothered to read the actual examples given 2 posts after the OP post, the biggest red flag there should've been the harassment of a minor in that discord.

Second red flag, the crappy practices they do with their streaming "partners".

Both things that have absolutely nothing to do with gender, sexism, etc.

Well some of us have already seen the whole thing before this thread was made, and given that the whole point of the server is gender-related, it's the easiest topic to stay on. Would you like to discuss those things? Go ahead. No one is stopping you.

I don't think any generalization should specifically be attributed to any particular age group or even sex. All around, people are people.

With the prior issues this particular discord has, I'm still heavily wary about it and wouldn't really trust it. There's not been any tangible expression of desire to change for the better as far as I've seen, and criticisms seem to be met with doubling down regardless of the merit which isn't a great sign. Especially since, if a real issue of harassment or the like does crop up there, I don't have faith the team there would be able to responsibly handle it considering the behavior.

That's all I have to say about it, though.

Back in my day, people joined chat (IRC) servers based on shared interests and there were no rules stating who could or could not join (except the 18+ chat which had age restrictions for obvious reasons). There were rules to follow and if you didn't follow them or were a jerk you got kicked and banned. It worked pretty well because the moderators did their jobs.

Some people work through trauma by talking about it. Others deal with it differently. I'm inclined to suggest that things should be tailored to individual preferences.
