The gap closer (Crimson Cyclone) on SMN is amazing (despite me initially being unsure about it). However the followup move, Crimson Strike, feels really awkward as a GCD. It would flow much nicer as an OGCD.

while u are right that would make Crimson strike deal less dmg i would prefer if Crimson strike made next ifrit spell instant cast![]()
I wish it would be like RDM with displacement. I guess it would look a little weird having the SMN jump back like RDM. RDM feels a little more athletic with their melee combo.
Most of summoner's spells now are instant cast, so there's no need for a disengagement skill, especially with how many red mages were running into issues with displacement throwing them into death walls and off platforms.
Ifrit, I feel, should get two melee range spells instead of the casted ones. make them combo together or something. Use firebreath and something else. Crimson strike should also be ogcd, it just feels weird to stand there waiting for the global and spell speed is firmly off the stat table with how much of the kit is just instant cast anyway.
The pause between GCDs in the gapcloser combo is indeed really flow-breaking. Just feels wrong.
Honestly, I like that it's on the GCD. Each primal phase has 4 GCDs. Ifrit has 2 casts, 2 instants, and one of the latter is also a gap closer.
Keep in mind if it were made off global, it would mean we'd need another ruin 3 in our rotation before we could aethercharge again. I'd really rather not have more ruin 3.
Also, just in terms of pure aesthetic - crimson strike has a screen shake effect. I feel like something with that impact should be spaced out a tiny bit from the previous attack - helps keep the feeling distinct.

I think it'd be awesome if we had an extra ogcd or two (or three) that worked like Egi Assaults in ShB: short recast with multiple charges shared between the summons, each does something a little different. Maybe tie them to some kind of resource. Every summon has space to use them, Energy Drain and Fester are pretty much only used during Bahamut. Phoenix could use something too, at least going back to a 1-2 rotation would be nice as has been said by many people many times now.
I just feel happy that I am not the only one that sees the issues with Ifrit phase. It just feels so unnatural compared to the rest of the current kit. It makes it feel wonky.
I like the gap closer but I cannot tell you how many times I have missed to push it second times or due to CDs the push didnt register and you lose the spell when you change back to the other ifrit cast. Instant facepalm of course followed...
...I don't think the job needs more homogenization either, personally, but I suppose maybe that's just me...
