What? Have you gotten to 90 yet? The gauges absolutely do not fill slowly. The job has no friction to it at all. You have 2 gauges and they both build incredibly slowly so it is extremely easy to work around mechanics in a way that makes the other melee dps jealous. You have 1 damage cooldown to keep track of and it's on a 2 minute timer. 2 if you want to count gluttony but soul slice makes that super easy to hit on cooldown. You have 2 positionals, neither of which are part of a combo and also you have complete control over when you need to do them so it's nearly impossible to mess them up or find yourself in an inconvenient spot. You never have to double-weave ogcd's and your movement skills are completely detached from damage so you can use them strictly for positioning and not have to do the mental math that drg and sam do. Then there's the job specific odd stuff like drg animation lock, cursed double solar monk opener to align phantom rush, sam tsubame drift (which is still a problem, just not the cataclysmic disaster it was in shb). Literally the hardest thing about the job is remembering to refresh Shadow of Death.
Plus just get on The Balance and look at the assorted openers and then laugh at how basic reaper's is compared to the others.
What? I rarely have to move at all true north is up for almost every positional change. I just stay behind and true north anytime I need a side postional or right before gluttony. I may have to move like once every 2mins lol

he said they were worried its gonna be too technical not that its meant to be
but its the easiest of all the melees rn
Reaper has TWO positionals! Use true north if you cant get behind the boss or on the flank when you need to... you should be able to hit 90% of your positionals without much effort.... jesus.Playing 80+ with the RPR I found myself focused on the skill bar 90% of the time. 10% of the time I would catch a glimpse of the combat where I would be lucky to escape from a boss mechanic unharmed. Compared to other classes where my focus would be more on the fight and not looking if I’m pressing the correct key.
The problem is the positional movement. With RPR I have to always be on the move while pressing multiple possible combos. I think the positional requirements should be removed or at least fuse some of the skills like the solo instances where one button will do 3 combos.
I hated that monk had positionals on every button - but you people who complain about even two are just.... why? its not hard at all...
you arent using gibbet and gallows 90% of the time - so that is CLEARLY not the reason youre not looking up.

Comparing to Dragoon positionals specifically:
- Can't delay them, if you can't land a positional when it's time for it you'll just miss out on it
- Animation locks are something you need to constantly be mindful of
- You have to be careful not to mess up your line AOE positioning with your gap closers (while Reaper gap closer does no DPS and is not in your rotation)
- Your burst phase doesn't negate the need to land positionals
- The 2 finisher positionals are always immediately after each other - Reaper only has to immediately change position in a GCD every minute (when True North cooldown is 45s, so...)

I don’t struggle maximizing each classes potential. Compared to other classes I noticed where my attention went. I have no problem focusing on the skills 90% of the time since all the battles are fairly simple and staying alive to avoid mechanics. I will git good, but that one time you miss your positional you must tell yourself to also git good. If you cannot be perfect you cannot tell people to git good. Forever from here on out each time you mess up you will eat your own words.

When you know you might miss your positional, True North is your friend. Try again.I don’t struggle maximizing each classes potential. Compared to other classes I noticed where my attention went. Exactly this. If anything, I wish we had more oGCD to make the gameplay a bit more engaging while filling our bars. The job has no friction to it at all. Reaper has probably the least amount of management with its abilities.....Its the easiest melee to play.
The only gauge that builds slow at any given time is Shroud gauge if you don't have big groups of mobs. Red gauge is only slow at the 50-60 range.
And once Circle is traited you have triple shroud every 2 minutes.
Buying time for positionals is silly with True North making it not matter at all.
