The unfortunate thing is there are some amazing items that come from hamlet defense for gatherers and crafters, they are just incredibly time consuming to get, and you are still at the mercy of the RNG even if you do put forth the effort.
not to mention 3 x hamlets will make it harder to get them past the first rank
