Will we be able to rename characters soon?

As many of you already know, the World transfer service was closed when Endwalker was released, and due to the congestion issues, it hasn't reopened since. To be fair, it makes sense, the process probably takes server-side resources, and even if it's fast, it's probably not an easy task.

However, I was a bit surprised to see that the character renaming service was also impacted/closed. A notice was published during the release as well, but no details have been given since.

I always thought it was a bit strange to not have a usable item to be able to change our characters name. Considering Fantasia are still purchasable/usable, is there a technical reason why renaming characters would be an issue?

I understand the whole license system and the fact you need to wait until it's applied -- I'm just really curious about why it's the case with names, but not with character race/data itself being changed.

Probably because of the "cannot retrieve character data"issue.

You MUST rename your character before you can log back in with it, unlike fantasia. There's probably something up with that error.

Because depending on when you use it, it'll refuse to let you change your name due to the congestion and effectively lock you out of your character. Won't be able to have the name change go through until the queue thins out which means early hours of the morning. It's easier to just turn it off fully until the issues settle down than have it go on and off depending on the time of day.

Yeah and I wanted to fanta at some point but can't. lol. need a name change.

Same, i've been sitting on a fantasia since the 3rd and still haven't used it because i obviously want a fitting name.

Last night, Friday night, I had only a few minutes worth of queue. I find the lack of name change more annoying at this point.
